Password Managers

What password managers you guys use.

I have used RoboForm for like 4-5 years but now i am fed up of this. Just downlaoded LastPass. However, I am not sure how much authentic and secure it is since it is saving passwords online. What are your comments?

Re: Password Managers

I don’t like to use any tool to remember my password. I remember them myself.

Re: Password Managers

:nono: to password managers…

Re: Password Managers

Why no to password managers?

Re: Password Managers

I’ve been using KeyPass as it has a free Android client. I also recently started using LastPass. It plugs into all your browsers and makes things very convenient. I’ve also seen really great reviews about. One of the security guys that I admire (Steve Gibson) did an extensive test on it and gave it a thumbs up, so that’s good enough for me.

Re: Password Managers

I have some serious concerns on relying these third party apps. What if we have a password manager which store passwords on our own server .. lets say our inbox .. ?? I think i should build such an app .. ..

So as a normal user, what features you guys look for in a PasswordManager besides its integration in Popular Browsers and saving the passwords

Re: Password Managers

biggest app is your brain .. i mean keep one password a unique one .. which is fool proof and impossible to crack and use that since you know its fool proof ..and yeh i dunt trust any managers either .. i mean if i can remember the whole quran .. a few passwords aint rocket science :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Password Managers

One password which you probably use for your bank accounts as well as email accounts. Bank accounts use SSL (secure) connections whereas SMTP (email) is plain text. Once someone gets ur email password your bank is history.
The above is just an example that has happened before.

Some of us deal with not just our own but tons of clients’ passwords and the users over there. I have my family’s router passwords, their AOL passwords and the list goes on. If they forget it Tofibaba HAS to know it. I personally have about 2-3 accounts at most online services.
I used to think I’ll remember everything too but then one day I didn’t and the whole world came to a halt :hehe:

Re: Password Managers

why you need Password manager to manage your password in first place ?

Many members give good suggestions. Don’t use such managers.

Re: Password Managers

was not expecting these reasons from you.

  • Gmail could be used over SSL
  • Who will save Plain Text passwords in email? The passwords would be encrypted with a private key, known to user only.

Re: Password Managers

everyone has own reasons of using Password Managers. personally, I dont’ forget the passwords .. .. I do forget the USERNAMES ..

Re: Password Managers

:smack:
I was not saying to use email to save passwords. I was responding to FBI’s idea of having just one password for all his different accounts. If you remember he just has one so he doesn’t need to write it down anywhere.

Re: Password Managers

Lol - sorry about that .. .. i din notice .. .. since its a common trait of people to oppose any idea being presented. Sometimes I laugh if i think that what if someone has posed an Idea of developing Twitter to them .. … Hey i am thinking to develop an app where people will update their statuses … and then there go with all the bashings .. .. .. look at this picture

Re: Password Managers

One shouldnt make their self so dependent on machines for each and everything. Brain kis k liye hai? Agar hai hi nahi tu diary mein note karlo…lolz.

Re: Password Managers

thanks Maham for the IDEA. you saved us

Re: Password Managers

Very deep suggestion. If you don’t have machines then what are you going to use passwords for?

Re: Password Managers

you still need password to login to “unhoon’s” heart

Re: Password Managers

That’s not pass-word, that’s pass-aao

Re: Password Managers

I can warn you for taking discussion to the wrong point :snooty:

Well now you said it, then explain what it means.. :stuck_out_tongue:
