passport related question..please help

hi,
i really dont know in which section shall i post this thread to, i thinks this the right one!

well one of my friend lost her passport in UK, issued another and left for Pakistan, she completed all the formalities (jisa pakistan main FIR ka hota hay). Now, they have found her passport and say, send anyone who is here in UK to rcv on your behalf- its alright. The problem is, is it allowed to send someone’s passport out of the country, I am here in UK, she asks me to recieve that, which is not a problem, but how can i send her, her passport?

thanks.

Re: passport related question..please help

You can use any reliable courier service ? What is the big deal about it ?

Re: passport related question..please help

DHL say they do it, but the other small places by DHL (ones who are hired by DHL) say, its illegal!! NOW??

Re: passport related question..please help

DHL knows better .

From

Here is the link http://ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/applying-for-passport-usa/ and I quote:

Postage and Insurance
We recommend that you send the application by registered courier service such as United Parcel Service (UPS), DHL, or Fedex. Priority mail items sent by standard United States Postal Service (USPS) can take several days to reach Washington.

The UPS postage fee includes insurance of up to $100. If you wish to insure the package to cover the cost of replacing the passport/supporting documentation you may choose to do so for an additional fee of $1.80 for up to $300 and $0.60 per $100 after that.

thanks :)

Re: passport related question..please help

mailing passport within a country is different than mailing it overseas.

Re: passport related question..please help

destroy it or send it to uk passport office, it is a criminal offence to keep it

Re: passport related question..please help

to confirm I would say call the passport office, laws vary country to country and could change.
also it is very different when someone is sending it to a govt agency and vice versa vs. one person sending it to another person.

Re: passport related question..please help

yes, i have already talked to the related dept. (who were supposed to issue me the passport), I have told them the situation, they have brought out some solution to take it to her :) thanks to all.
