Passport problem

I just came back from pakistan and i accidently brought my parents passport/ticket with me..they are still in pakistan

does anyone know if it is safe to mail US passport to Pakistan?? is there any other way?

Re: Passport problem

^ the other way would be same as you just did i.e. send passports back with someone you trust (or someone who trusts you :) )

Re: Passport problem

ohh maybe DHL or FedEx type courier..? I wouldnt use Royal mail...
or better still, by hand..?

Re: Passport problem

report it as stolen/lost and get a new one, which i m sure aint gonna be easy but its worth a try

Re: Passport problem

if not by hand then DHL but I would be hesitant sending it w/ DHL too.

Re: Passport problem

send them with someone, do not send them through any courier .....its not realy safe.....its e'one's experience...

Re: Passport problem

Mailing passport outside the country is illegal. Please contact the passport office & explain it to them. Passports can be delivered to US Embassy in Pakistan through Diplomatic Post & can be collected by ur parents from there. You can send Tickets by Post (I'd recommend Courier).

Re: Passport problem

Najim is absolutely right. It's the safest way to handle it.
I did the same with hubby's passport when I left Karachi. Luckily I discovered it at the gate and had PIA staff take it back to the lobby. I would have been hesitant to do this but since a cousin works for PIA I knew that he could trace the employee back.

If I were you, I would even discuss the entire situation with the consulate and send the tickets back with the passports.

Good luck.

p.s. I know someone leaving for Karachi this weekend from Toronto......if I can help in any way, let me know.

Re: Passport problem

thanks muzna and najim.
i also thought mailing would not be safe. i am in CT so i will try to contact passport services tomorrow and see if someone can deliver it to the karachi consulate

Re: Passport problem

Just request the airlines and take help of an air hostess or steward they keep flying back and forth.
