true, but there are also some instances where you go nowhere without bribing. for example, you have you have done everything that needs to be done as per requirements but then what happens is they ask you for some other document which will be hard to get. if somehow yu get that particular document, they will raise some other objection and/or ask for yet another document. their aim is not to have those documents but to harass/intimidate you to the extent that you just give up and pay the bribe.
this is not a something far fetched, it’s the fact and it does happen more frequently than you think. sad indeed.

It’s not that I’m not familiar with the malpractices at such offices. I grew up in Pakistan and unfortunately know how it generally works. But I have a few examples from my own family where people took a stand and got their work done without any bribe. Allah helps those who help themselves. It’s much easier to suffer here for not paying the bribe than to face the hell fire.
from religious point of view, yes! you are right. unfortunately, not everyone is either that religious or that patient. sometimes, urgency of the matter force you to do things that you wouldn’t have done otherwise.
We don’t like to settle for less when it comes to worldly matters but think it easier to chose hellfire over longer waiting time!
I just wish we make wiser choices. May Allah help us all.
I think the problem is people accepting it as part of life. Even if you don’t stand up to it, you want to recognize it as a problem and encourage the ones that do stand up against it.
