^ My parents are exactly like that and so are so many people in this community. They are shocked to know that we are getting these things and not him. And my fiance and me dont know all these things so we in these past few days we have discovered alot. I would never make the poor guy sit there and put dried dates and a bunch of other stuff in lil bags and make em look all pretty 
Hmmm so i guess its just tradition and i guess now it kinda makes sense why they want think the guy should bring it so bad even though i still dont see the harm in the girls family doing it.
