hi noor,
i know homeland is watan.
one of the songs by ustad awal mir is called zeba watan:
da zamoo zeba watan, da zamoo laila watan
da watan moo zaan de, da afganistan de.
it used to be the national anthem of afganistan, and i was very moved by it, here i was with just a little understanding of pushto and deeply touched by national anthem of another country whereas so few of my own countrymen understand their national anthem (not even in our own language, and words added later on to complement the music)

but it also means you can read only roman urdu, not the script itself?

no…I can arabic…to read the Quran, so learning urdu script was not difficult…and I have books to learn too
