Alot of people nowadays will say “hamare shaadi pasand ke thee”.I saw her at a party and then talked to my parents etc. More like in which one party pursues with interest and the other partner would not say no or stay neutral.Would you put it as arranged or love or a new third category?
Re: "Pasand Ke Shaadi"-A third category!
Whatever category you put it in , the bottom line is that you are happily married :)
Re: "Pasand Ke Shaadi"-A third category!
LOL.. i've heard it so many times. Its an arranged marriage and they don't want to say the term arranged marriage :)
I mean come on.. Unless its a forced marriage ... all arranged marriages are like this.. see each other.. talk to each other and get married.. all along parents are involved.

Some people are embarrased or feel old fashioned to say "Arranged".Thats why they might use the term...!

This statement so often pisses me off as these people have no understanding of how much commitment and hard work it requires for two people to have a relationship and decide on getting married, these "love"-cum arranged marriages are the norm in pakistani society, It doesnt really matter who saw the girl first, the guy or his mother!!!
Without parental approval, the love would fly out the window and you're looking for the next hot or cute-looking (depending on your taste) girl at the next family GT.
Re: "Pasand Ke Shaadi"-A third category!
After first couple of years "road to shadi" almost have not effect on daily life. No matter if it was Pasand ke Shadi cat 1, 2 or 3 or simply and arranged marriage.

Why don't you define what arranged marriage is?
It really doesn't matter if one 'saw other' or both 'saw' each other somewhere, and sent the family or family found the girl and then family let each other met before marriage.
It is arranged marriage. Not third category.
Love marriage or pasand ki shaadi means they met independently or secretly had affair, spent time for a while, and then either with or without family involvement/approval got married.
By the way, both marriages can be called 'pasand ki shaadi'. Long gone the days when they see each other on wedding night the first time.
Now forced or coerced marriage is different. one does not really likes the other but for some weird reasons or unusual circumstances (watta satta, rape victim, one night stand with pregnancy as a result) they have to get married. Not a good thing but it does work out in some cases.

There are lots of categories:
Married to God. Nuns do that or asked to do that.
In some villages women/girls are asked to marry Quran or whatever.
In India women marry dogs, monkeys, tree etc.
