Part-Time Work in Toronto

So, I was wondering how my Torontonian fellas search for a part-time position? Any website other than workopolis and HRDC? Any other resource that actually works?

Re: Part-Time Work in Toronto

You tried Craigslist or Kijiji ?

Re: Part-Time Work in Toronto

well when i was working part time i would always prefer to go and drop my resume on company's own website instead of going to workopolis or hrdc.
for example if u wana work at futureshop, bestbuy or any white colar job em like in coppley just go to the official site and drop resume there. even airliners like west jet or air canada just go to the site click career and they will tell you wat posts are vacant and u can just copy paste ur resume there.

Yes I did :(

Yeah, lemme go do that :( now

Re: Part-Time Work in Toronto

wat kind of work u r looking for??
Xmas season is in, drop ur resume at the bricks, staples, futureshop, best buy anywhere and u will get hired no matter wat, and then show ur performance and they will keep u even after xmas.

That is the right way to get a job, keep sending those resumes indiscriminately, even unsolicited , there is someone out there looking for a job candidate like yourself.
The secret to success is before you go for interview , even if it is a menial job from your own standards , go there well groomed well dressed , findd out as much as you can about what would you be doing and about the company.
The interviewers love candidates who already know about what they are required to do and who have interest in the company they want to work for.

I’m not quite sure if I agree with the “indiscriminately” part… it really depends on the type of work being sought. Surely, if you’re seeking retail work with specific types of stores or general store help, then you can mass distribute your résumé but if you’re looking at any type of office jobs or work that is relatively more specific in nature, then mass distributing is not recommended. That being said, I also encourage targetted cold calling… so I agree with the “unsolicited” aspect of finding work.

:k: no doubt about this… I’ve interviewed a lot of ppl who present themselves as if they’re doing the company a favor - so no matter how menial you might perceive the job to be, the employer is expending its resources in hiring you and paying you - so you better make it worth their while in the interview process as well as later on. There’s always somebody else who needs the job more than you do.

Re: Part-Time Work in Toronto

I did follow what you all suggested and have got 4 job interviews and one job offer on my plate.

Please accept my heartiest gratitude.
