The PML’s Chaudhry Ijaz said the US had suffered an embarrassing defeat in Iraq and it now wanted to salvage its pride in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He said he would welcome a Musharraf-Benazir deal if it were for the sake of democracy. But, if this deal is to further the US agenda, the people will condemn it, he added.
Ijaz said Muslims would retaliate to any US action against their sacred places. **“I am against terrorism but want to make it clear that every Muslim will become a suicide bomber if their sacred places are attacked,” **he said. **The MQM’s Farooq Sattar said that Pakistan’s foreign policy had been a victim of world politics and incidents. “We are today reaping what we sowed in the 1980s,” he said.
