umm not really....
Look at Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, the Greatest Church in Eastern Orthodox Christianity was instantly turned into a Mosque when Constantinople fell to the Turks in 1453, or when the Turks turned the Acropolis into a Mosque when they conquered Greece, or the Muslims in India building their mosque near the Hindu Temple of Ram, etc.
I don't think this is what the Ground Zero Mosque is trying to do but still you shouldn't do it.
In a perfect world, the Germans would be allowed to build their Embassy near Aushwitz but many people will object to it out of sensitivity.

This is a needless issue.
Building a mosque so close to Ground Zero is a stupid idea.
Its like the Germans building their Embassy new Aushwitz Concentration Camp, or Japanese building their Cultural Center near Pearl Harbor, or Americans building their Embassy near the epicenter on where they dropped the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Americans have MILITARY presence in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii is a couple of miles from "National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific" where the american 'heros' of pearl harbour are burried and around 5 miles from the actual Pearl Harbor.

If there were a reason to deny construction of houses of worship based on local history of tragedies committed by members of a certain faith or in the name of a faith, most Christian churches would not have been built in most of Europe, North America or the Middle East..
I wonder if people would be offended if the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was rebuilt AT, not NEAR, Ground Zero..

Al Qaeda was behind 9/11 and most of the muslim world was initially happy and celebrating the event. Then a few days later the conspiracy theories started emerging out of the muslim world because after their intial joy the reality began to sit in that now they would be receiving end of American Military Might and thus the retarded conspiracy theories to explain away 9/11.
