Paris!

I am sure there must be a thread on Paris but I cant be bothered to look for it  I have been to Paris before but its been ages and alot must off changed now..

So Me, my sister and two of my cousins have just booked eurostar tickets to paris for first week of September for 3 days. What are the must see places there apart from Eiffle Tower, Louvre, Pantheon etc?

Any reasonable, decent hotels near the main attractions? And the must eat places (preferablly halal :D)?

Re: Paris!

Champs D'Elysee, Notre Dame, River Seine, Versailles (outside of Paris, but lots of tours take you there).

My highlight from Paris was the evening boat cruise on the River Seine - it was gorgeous!

As for halal restaurants, we didn't find any, but obviously we didn't look hard enough. If you go to the areas where the African Muslim and Arabs generally stay, there must be some options there.

Look for boulangeries/cafes that are all over and getting fresh bread cheese and tomatoes - yum!!! Oh, and pain au chocolat!!!

Re: Paris!

Oh, and the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, so don’t plan to go there on a Tuesday :hehe:

Re: Paris!

So lucky!!!

I hope you have loads of fun amina!!

Paris!

Agree with sehrysh...I didn't find any halal restaurants when I was in Paris, but then again, I didn't look real hard either!! Try the zabihah dot com website, you should get some reviews for places there.

And defiantly add the evening boat cruise of the Seine!!

And yes, the bread, cheese, tomatos..patisseries...ufffff!!!! To die for!!

Even simple omelets are elevated to an art form in Parisian cafes!

Re: Paris!

I loved the bread and pain au choc last time I went...and the freshly made pancakes were to die for...and they werent even from some expensive place but amazing...I have been to Louvre so not really planning to go there we find some spare time...We are all real foodies so wherever we go the first thing we search for are the restaurants haha! I will do some digging on tripadviser...cant wait

Re: Paris!

How much did it cost you to book euro star tickets? Is it direct from London to Paris?

Re: Paris!

Lilly it costed £110 pp return and yes direct from London to Paris

Re: Paris!

Eurodisney

Re: Paris!

Not too expensive plus you are going in September, holiday season will end by then and this holiday shouldn't cost you much. I am sure you will end up finding cheap accommodation too, every one will be back to normal life in September. :p Enjoy your holiday and do update us later on. ;)

Re: Paris!

We went too, but forgot the hotel name :( It wasn't far from the tower!

Go when the weather is nice, we froze!

Re: Paris!

@Hadeel: Sure will do
@: The weather is suppose to be nice first week on september…the hotels are still kinda expensive even though the holidays season almost comes to an end by then…my brother was like are you flipping stupid that you need 2 rooms, You dont sleep on holidays so all 4 of you just fit into one room

Re: Paris!

^ Exactly, you can book a room with 3 beds. When I went to Scotland, we were 4 friends. There were 3 beds in one room, it was a big room though. We told them our fourth friend will leave hotel late in the night because she is studying at local University. We will watch movies and play cards etc. They said ok. We left the hotel early in the morning like 5am as we had to travel to another city. When we left, there was no one at the reception that time, lol. Then one of my friend handed the keys and we left. Also it was bed and breakfast, we didn't eat breakfast. Play tricks ;)

Re: Paris!

My dad and uncle keep scaring us that french are so chalaak and since they are not really huge fans of British you dont stand a chance lol...and we dont wana pay double on the spot so going to book 2 rooms...:) infact I checked online today its gna be £121 for holiday-inn per night B&B...apparently not too far from Eiffle tower,if dnt find any other decent one then will go for it

Re: Paris!

We stayed pretty close the Eiffel Tower at the Hotel le Walt - it was a bit pricier but was very nice.

Boutique Hotel Le Walt in Paris - 4-star hotel in Paris 7th arrondissement

Have you tried Hotels.com and for decently priced places? Check for reviews on TripAdvisor.

Re: Paris!

My experience was that they really take advantage of people who dont know french and dismiss anybody who doesnt speak it. But if you do make at least an effort to communicate with them they tend to reciprocate two fold - or at least i found. Maybe carry a phrase book with you or something??

Re: Paris!

^ This! My French is pretty bad, but I at least made an effort and didn't just assume that everyone spoke in English. With my toothi-poothi French, I managed to order food, ask for directions, buy tickets. I actually didn't even fall back on the: parlez-vous Anglais? but the Parisienes are quite snooty and do look down on foreigners - I thought I deserved part marks for at least trying :(
