Paris Incidence...thought provoking

Yes we are condemning the Paris terrorists. many Muslim scholars in the west have condemned these attacks as well but is this condemnation enough? Frankly speaking what choice do these scholars have? they of-course cant endorse it!

The bigger question is what have these scholars in the west and muslims govts done to curb fundamentalism at the first place? if these Muslim scholars in the West were doing a good job in promoting peace among religions, we would have not seen rise of fundamentalism in Muslim societies in the west. I have heard hateful sermons in USA friday prayers against jews and other religions. Just saying that Islam is peaceful and we condemn it will not be enough anymore because afterlall all these idiots are muslims not jews or hindus

So we need to fight the source of the problem as well. for example, we pakistanis are condemning people who kill those they consider as blasphemers but our own government endorses and legalizes the blasphemy law at the very same time. we need to make up our mind. What is our opinion of Blasphemy law. Yes Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) namoos and izzat is the most important thing for us but do we believe in taking a life by legalizing blasphemy law? becasue by doing so, you are promoting a certain mindset.

Thoughts are welcome

Re: Paris Incidence...thought provoking

We need to deal with this problem because it's our problem...let's not worry what our "image". This is not a PR issue...

Let's also not pretend that this was a random act from the general Muslim population. These guys were Al-Qaeda. So, at that point there really was little we could do to stop them...we're targets. Not peers. The halmark of these radical groups is that they sideline and ignore the conservative, traditional scholarship. They have their own religious leaders they follow. And they've deemed every ohter muslim as apostates. There's no reasoning with them at that point.

Intervention must happen before they move over to the radical camp.

Re: Paris Incidence...thought provoking

I guess the biggest question that I have and which i asked before.....

we are condemning Paris killers but do we really mean it? and if we really mean it, shouldn't we pressurize our govt to change the blasphemy law? what paris killers did in paris is morally equivalent to a legalized hanging which will be conducted by our govt under blasphemy law.

If we keep on supporting the blasphemy law in Pakistan under which a court can order hanging a human being , then we have no moral right to condemn a killing which occurs on the name of blasphemy in private capacity.

I am not a scholar but i think our beloved Prophet (PBUH) would have never allowed to kill a human being who would have insulted him. That peace loving man forgave every one when he conquered Mecca and declared his biggest opponent Abu Safyan's home center of peace. Jazak Allah..

Re: Paris Incidence...thought provoking

do you condemn or support blasphemy law? yes or no

thank you brother

Re: Paris Incidence…thought provoking

Well if you read about ‘Asma’ bint Marwan, Abu Afak, Ka’b ibn al-Ashraf](Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf - Wikipedia), Abu Rafi’ ibn Abi Al-Huqaiq, who were killed for opposing the prophet with poetry, also Khalid bin Sufyan who was killed for the sin of incitement, Banu Nadir who were invaded for criticizing the prophet, you might change your opinion. There are other examples too that convince the Sharia scholars to be convinced that insulting and criticizing the prophet is something to kill for.

And then there are countless incidents where the prophet stopped sahabis (once a jew who grabbed him at masjid nabwi by his collar, another baddu who told him that you are a bad muslim) so it is all murky, isn't it now?

How about the people of mecca who were let go when they tried to kill him let alone say crap about his reputation when he was there.
