How many folks here are close to their parents or even mom/pop, and have more of a friendship relationship…rather than just authority figure? Were you always tight?
As for myself…I am very close to my mom and can talk to her practically about anything, and also able to joke with her like I would with my friends. She has grown into it…before she would just get embarassed…but now she just laughs at my jokes and stuff. I love my dad but I feel a little distanced from him. Like I can not go to him for any personal problems, I’d go straight to my mom.

Iam very close to my father, i can talk with him abt everything iam also close to my mom but she thinks that iam very bigri hui, zaida baaat kar jaao to dant par jati hai ,, but she is like my freind, she was the 1st one i told abt my weeding night, so pappa se zaida woh kareeb

Sorry why would you tell your mom about your wedding night? Isn't that a personal thing between husband and wife? I thought what happens between the couple stays between the couple...at least that's what I think.

I didnt have the friendship relationship with my parents but am determined to have a friendship relationship with my children

Before, i wud (half) joke around saying that when i get married ill be bragging to my mom abt the first night.. but now that im engaged hell no I wud never do that :no:

It really depends on the age of the kids don't ya think? Up to a certain age, parents are sposed to be strict and stuff.. I remember on Evrybody Loves Raymond, the grandfather says, if your kids hate you then you're doing a good job :D

my mom and i we are really really really close. i tell her everything like which guy tried to or did hit on me in school etc etc etc

i think to some degree sara has it right....when i was younger my mom was totally and completly just my mom, someone to fear and an authority figure, but as i got older she became more of a friend, especially after i got married and moved out, now when i talk to my mom and when i visit i can talk to her as a friend, don't get me wrong though she still is an authority figure and i still respect what she has to say, but we both understand that what she has to say is just advice.

but now wev both learned (i know hard to digest a parents can learn)
we still fight n stuff but now we share too

my mo mis strict n still is....i think one of the parents shud b strict on there kids cus then children get out of hand...whichh is not good...me n my dad are rlyy close to eachther.....but im not as close to him as im close to my best frends....we joke n everyhitg but never pass the limit...which u can do wid ur frends...:)///

i'm close to my mother ... she is very friendly .. my dad is also very polite towards us .. he has a friendly nature .. but somehow we are distanced .. not as close to as mother :)

i am very close to my mom, can basically talk to her about anything... and i think it should be like that because your parents will sometimes give u better solution to ur problems then ur friends...and dad too...if I have any major problem that i juz cant seem to work out...i can always sit with and have a talk

Does it make a difference to any of u on how ur parents treat u compared to ur other siblings…like if ur the youngest, oldest, or even the middle child? I know that my eldest sis is closest to my mom and my mom talks to her all the time…and even yells at her kids when they bother my sis…
…but I dont see myself that close to my mom as my sis is. I always joke around with my mom…all sorts of jokes…and i help her out sometimes…but I don’t talk about marriage issues with her or share my secrets with her. I guess she is close to my eldest sis cuz my sis has been married for 13 years and I just got married…and once a girl gets married they tend to be closer to their mother. But I am not all that much.
With my dad I watch a few drama’s with him…but not that close to him like my eldest sis is.

yaar there was something i had to tell my mom, and i dont hide anythign from my mom. what happens between me and my husband it stays between us , and i dont think my husband would mind what i share with my mom
