There comes a point in everyone's life when one has to tell his/her parents that they can take care of themselves.
This may sound like nafarmaani but there is a thin line between nafarmani and being independent.
I have seen some men and women who are in their twenties and still protected/restricted by their parents. As a result those men and women are not happy with their lives and have a sense of deprivation.
Trying to be independent from parents may lead to ugly situations for some, specially if parents are not willing to let go. I know a young man who used to have verbal brawls with his father becoz he won't do everything as his father wanted to do. Others do crazy things as a revenge which makes it more harmful for them as compared to complete freedom.
I was lucky that my parents understood me and my siblings needs and got independence much earlier :)

yeah you do sound lucky! It has left me with a sense of - what would my mother think before I act. Which is good. But it has also left me very naive and i feel somewhat restricted in my choices in life.
I am not saying I want to go clubbing, drinking and taking drugs.
I just want a life where I am not always subjected to so much control. You cannot wear that. Or you cannot go here. etc. They are being more lenient as I get older. I mean I am almost 30! (ok 4 years away) but still!
26 and still being controlled??? I feel suffocation as i read this.
You need to sit down with ur mom and ask her "Mom! when will I get a chance to live my own life?"

anyways, dont worry. desi girls gotta put up with a lot of sh*t from their parents but they r only doing that cuz they care. things will work out. if u truly love this guy though, DON'T budge! they will give in eventually. all parents do! good luck! :)

If I have marry some cousin from back home… ACKKKK. I dunno. I feel it wouldn’t be fair on them. With my current state of mind.
