Parenting

For some strange reason I always always like to read books on parenting.

I start searching for the books on this topic n can spend hours on reading reviews n making ‘to buy’ lists.Needless to say, I can never get enough of these.

So anyone else interested…can you please recommend a book…???

Re: Parenting

I tend to "google" on a particular topic and take it from there rather than buy books. Its hard to settle down with a serious book these days! So I "cut to the chase" and just get the info I'm looking for! There are an incredible number of parenting websites with info on whatever you may be looking for whether its a typical problem or the rarest of the rare troubles.

Re: Parenting

hehe....I had u on my mind while i was posting this thread mama.:)

I do the same i.e. google the topic n all....but I'm moving to somewhere where net wouldn't be available that much ....so I just thought of buying some more books.

The only problem is ....the books with very good reviews are no less than hundreds at the mo. n obviously I can't buy that many so I asked for recommendations.

Has anyone here heard abt. Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child....???

P.S. mama how's your father now..???

Re: Parenting

For a long time I was reading "The No-Cry Sleep Solution". It's the opposite of Ferberization for me. Most of my parenting issues revolve around sleep since both of my girls were nursed, co-sleepers, night nursers. Maya is turning 1 in a couple weeks and I'm considering weaning her. But I'm not sure how she'll handle that at night since she still gets up for nightfeedings. I don't want to do the cry-it-out method.

Re: Parenting

Hi again Ms Afia. Thanks for asking about my Dad. He's hanging in there, we're all waiting for weds when he finds out all the results of the latest tests and what the recommended treatment plan will be. It looks like he has the type of cancer that responds well to chemo so we're just praying at this point.

With the books that you like, have you tried looking for them on amazon? You can usually find used copies of the book you like and save lots of money.

Re: Parenting

Saima....I nursed my kids for two years n just like your daughter they too were in my bed.I didn't use crying out method....just tried explaining all the time that they are 'big' now n encouraged a lot ...bought a bed of their choice decorated their room etc. etc. it worked fine for eldest ....the middle one (almost 5 now) still finds excuses to sneak in my bed sometimes but mostly is ok.I have to reassure him all the time that he is such a brave boy that he can sleep alone n how its such a super thing etc. etc.

Mama...I keep looking on amazon....infact i'm in germany n mostly amazon doesn't offer that great prices for english books on local site here....if i order it from uk (which i've done in past ) it takes a loooong time plus i have to ask someone in uk to do me a favour n recieve books on my behalf n then send it to me (uk site accept uk addresses)

anyway ...aside from all that trouble ...what i really need is some recommendations for good books ......reviews on amazon sometimes sound too good to be true.

Anybody with some good recommendation for homeopathic remedies for family...???
