Parental Controls

So when do you start?

I recently saw some 8-11 year old girls sitting and chatting on MSN, like with so many people at the same time. Their parents “trust” them and don’t bother checking. Well the girls are nice but I would be a bit scared.

Re: Parental Controls

the best thing is that the computer should be placed in the livingroom, where everyone can see the child activities.

Re: Parental Controls

I "trust" my kids, but I do not allow unsupervised computer activity, even with my oldest. The laptops are used downstairs in the LR or around the kitchen table, and yes, I have keystroke logging software on all of them. I do not ever want to be one of those parents in denial. (My son says that Aunty Sara did not really see him at the mall holding hands with a girl, and I know my son and trust him)...

Re: Parental Controls

Mine are still too young to use or know about chatrooms but the rule of the house is - and always will be - computer only in family room. Use only when supervised. For now, that means parent in the room. Later on, we'll install controls, limits and logging.
