Woolmer’s ‘labour of love’ in its final stages

KARACHI: Pakistan team’s coach Bob Woolmer is in the final stages of finishing a book on coaching which he describes as ‘a labour of love’ and is confident it will hit the stands later this year.
“The book is ‘a labour of love’ for me. It’s going to be one of the most comprehensive coaching manuals which anyone interested in coaching can use as a reference book,” Woolmer said.
The book in A-4 size is spread over 1200 pages and has been written by Woolmer with the assistance of one of international sports, best known writers Tim Knowles.
It also contains contributions from other experts in fields like biomechanics, nutrition and sports medicine.
Woolmer said he had been working on the book for the last five years and once it was out he also planned to do more books on other interesting subjects like his relationship with former South African captain Hansie Cronje.
“Reading and writing about cricket is a passion for me. I’m fascinated by this cricket cocoon we’ve created for ourselves and live in,” he added.
He said his coaching book should be of a big help to players, coaches and administrators, as it would try to cover all aspects of coaching in specific detail.
“Until now we don’t have a comprehensive coaching manual and I am confident once this book is out any coach can pick up a lot about modern day coaches.”
Woolmer said after the India series he would be going home to finalise the pictures and illustrations for the book but would return in time for the training camp for Pakistan team’s coming tour to Sri Lanka.
The reason I brought this up is because, I would like to know if there are any good cricketing books that anyone has (either) read, seen (or heard) from someplace (family, friends e.t.c.). Please share any/all cricketing books, that you possess in your ultra-giant library, with us. ![]()
