I’ve discovered carrot paratha, apple paratha and the best, orange paratha. They all taste too good, though the apple one kinda scared me first. I’m gonna add these to our upcoming recipe site too, agar kabhi Allah swt ne taufeeq di tau.
Orange paratha.
You need:
Two fresh oranges, juice
Two cops of ata
a pinch of grounded cardamom
Orange ka chilka, only the orange part, finally chopped.
Sugar
butter
Mix everything and make a nice smooth dough. Keep in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Take it out and make a small size ball, roll it out
Spread butter on one side and sprinkle a tsp sugar on.
Roll it back and make a snake like thingie.
Fold the snake, so that it makes a ball like shape again.
Roll another roti and place the ball in the middle.
Wrap the roti around the ball and roll it out, gently. Keep it thick (two roti’s size)
Place it on frying pan and fry on both sides till golden. Adding butter before turning.
This smells and taste good :k:
Same procedure with carrots and apples, only difference is that you have to knead the dough with either water of milk. Use fresh, raw grated fruit and veggies. Carrot juice and sugar will caramelise and your paratha will look absolutely great.
I was considering strawberries next, but got a warning against that, bro will not eat it and I don’t want to be the first. So waiting for mangoes.
LM, I'm going to try mango parathe next month from Pak Insha Allah. I can almost imagine look of the paratha, it should be good, sugar will caramelise and taste should be fresh :)
Prince, I'm always willing to cook bas khane wale hone chahiye
Brit, no. I had bought too many carrots and didn't want to waste them. And now I'm sort of testing my bro and mamo's limits :o
Thanks for the recipe, tried it today as lunch for the family... they all loved it. I still have some of the orange mix atta left over - think i'll have it for breakfast 2moro.
it didnt seem to, in fact i think most of the orange taste came from the the little zest pieces. I’ve used orange zest in a few other biscuit/cake recipes and i’ve never got a bitter taste from them. maybe it’s cos they’re cooked?? but it could just be due to the sweetness of the sugar overpowering the bitterness… tho i doubt it!
ok i just made it...i think i kept the dough to wet though b/c i had to add more atta and thenmy parai would fall apart...pllus i should have let the dough sit for a while. I ony had time to let it sit for 15 min....
Nice recipe but but it didn't turned out as nice (orange was too kata) as I would have liked..so will try again bc i think it was my fault this time....
LD, plain flour doesn't make paratha light. Choco will melt and you'll get a messy result, unless your paratha is very thick. Honey sounds good, I'll try that today and let you know. Cheese paratha are pretty common so is masala paratha and roti, even tandoori masala paratha is common, so you can just go ahead. I wouldn't use oil for paratha though, just don't like the smell of oil in paratha.
FF, jo marzi use kareiN I'm sure result different and nice hi ho ga :)
Sabah, i use plain flour for paratha or a mixture of half plan and half chappatti flour and they turn out to be be "lighter" on the stomach than the all chapp flour variety.
I was thinking of stealing you idea and adding to it (well youve published it now and made it public property:p )
what I like about it was the putting the first ball of dough inside the other , this would eliminate the "gunk" spilling out and making a mess.
if you add choc powder/cocoa to the flour to add chocolaty taste and perhaps egg to make a richer dough and use butter instead of oil
