When we first heard that Paramount was hurrying a ‘Paranormal Activity’ sequel into production so that it could drop into theaters approximately one year after the first installment scored major box office dollars for the studio, a lot of folks were skeptical. Could they produce another winner, or were we going to get a horror show along the lines of the craptastic ‘Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows’? Could this low-budget, home-video ghost story continue to freak out moviegoers, or would the film simply settle for a spot on the list of worst horror sequels of all time? Well, following the film’s first midnight screenings last night, it would appear that based on early word-of-mouth via Twitter and over at Rotten Tomatoes, 'Paranormal Activity 2](Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) - Movie | Moviefone)’ is a huge success. We’ll have our review tomorrow morning, but here’s what some folks are saying now …

“PA2 is an absolute success that is smarter and scarier than the original.” –IamRogue

“PA 2 is completely true to its roots, establishing itself as a competent, cohesive and coherent addition to the franchise that not only lives up to the hype, but also builds upon the original’s mythology.” – Bloody Disgusting

“This is a rare sequel that complements and enhances the original without betraying the elements that made it work in the first place.” – Dread Central

@jenyamato](http://twitter.com/jenyamato) Who’s got four thumbs and won’t be sleeping tonight thanks to Paranormal Activity 2? This girl.

@mtgilchrist](http://twitter.com/mtgilchrist) I gotta keep it real - ‘Paranormal Activity 2’ is scarier and more effective than the original. I’m genuinely freaked out afterward. I really should not be 34 years old and wondering whether I’ll be able to sleep, but that movie really, really worked for me (or against).

@elmayimbe](http://twitter.com/elmayimbe) Man that scared the testosterone out of me!

@drewathitfix](http://twitter.com/DrewAtHitFix)Wow. Color me pleasantly shocked.
