Re: Parallel History of India
And imagine Muslims speaking in Persian and Tamilians replying in Tamil:D, if Rajnikanth was born in that age, no invader would have reached even HinduKush:D
Sangam literature came in 3rd BC and was just before this dynasty was formed, at the height of their power they fought for tripartite struggle with Pals and Pratihars for capturing Kannauj:k:
Re: Parallel History of India
Where is this Kannauj situated. I think Ghaznavi also attacked that.
Re: Parallel History of India
Actually its funny but i like the way south indian chant mantras in early morning.....
Actually my grand parents were from andhra so i am nostalgic about those early morning chants..........:D

it's not mantras it called suprabhatam(suprabhat in hindi/sanskrit) it is used as prayer for god to wake up
famous one being
**
kausalya supraja rama purva sandhya pravartate**
Re: Parallel History of India
lol it’s opposite
some of the Sinhalese believe they were descendants of medieval aryan kindom who migrated to sri lanka…
another theory is jaffna tamils were the original inhabitants of lankan island
Re: Parallel History of India
Kannauj is 350 km south-east of Delhi, 250 Kms east of Agra, it centre of UP, famous for Itr, Miyanji ne Rs400 me zara si sheeshi dii thi:(
Bhagwan Ram was the first one:), He destroyed Pandit Rawan’s kingdom:k:
Re: Parallel History of India
So Rawan was the Pundit for whose death Bhagwan Rama has to suffer? ![]()
Re: Parallel History of India
Rawan was born to Maharishi vishrwa and Rakshasi Mata Keksi, he grew up like Brahmin, prayed like Brahmin, got Vardan, blessing like Rakshas, devout devotee of Bhagwan Shiv, Lived like RakshasRaj, died like Rakshas, but while dying he claimed he is Pandit and gave Laksman, Shiksha, education and made him to sit on his feets and Bhagwan kept his head on his thigh:)
Re: Parallel History of India
Okay.. So Ravana was a grey character instead of total villain. :) So on his death Rama got shraap and has to develope 101 Shivlingam you mentioned in other thread?
Re: Parallel History of India
ravana had full knowledge of vedas and sastras
unlike other evil charecters ravana was not a Asura but was born to a great sage...........
if it wasn't for his interest in sita,he would be been one of the greatest in mythology, all the wars were do to women in indian epics............
small note:
ravana is actually one of the gate keeper(jaya-vijaya) of vishnu, another one been kumbakarana who got cursed
Re: Parallel History of India
What is the importance of being gate keeper of Vishnu? I mean is Vishnu one the gods?

prayers for god to wake up, meaning prayers to god after one wakes up?
Re: Parallel History of India
I think the concept is to attribute melodies to the gods at start of the day.
I don't know whether in Hinduism there is a concept of ever woken up god as we Muslims have.
Re: Parallel History of India
This is suprabhatam
Re: Parallel History of India
ok ninja, you told that there are no mughal buildings in your area (Nagpur). That means the area remained under the rule of local dynasties? Which rulers are famous in your area and form part of folklore of Nagpur?
Re: Parallel History of India
Nagpur was ruled by Bhosle family....descendants of Shivaji...I think.........:D
chandrapur region 150 km away had Gond Rajas...they have names similar to muslims...
And few km away from it started Nizam state....first nizam was actually a mughal general...let the kaur clarify it..:D
