It seems that both the cities are dominated by Northern Indian culture than Punjab’s culture. The difference kept on widening with the passage of time and as you said urbanisation of the area.

You are right, but during the past decade or so some other cities of Punjab are being urbanized too. I think that we are witnessing the effects of globalization, I dont think this can be completely stopped. The government should take some steps to preserve the culture of these areas though.
