Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
SONA PALASI: Villagers in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal on Friday celebrated their new year by parading and dancing with unearthed human skulls and the corpse of a baby, prompting a police investigation.
The “Naramundo Khela” (Skull Game) is a ritual that appears only to take place in the village of Sona Palasi. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, a Hindu deity who is depicted by a snake around his neck, and marks the start of the Bengali New Year on April 15. …
“Dead bodies are dug up and their heads are severed and then used during the festival,” said Debdas Biswas, 58. “This has been happening for ages. If this does not happen we will feel that the significance of the ritual has come down,” he said. …

i dont see much wrong in this. There is a yoga called 'kapalik yoga' where you use bones and perhaps even dead bodies. Infact, that is one of the reasons why you find godess 'Kali' with skulls as her garland. It is not like you are going to harm others with all these.

it just seems like a old age tribal tradition.. not a scripture-prescribed religious practice.. it is pretty weird though, as long as they r not killing ppl to get bones for this.. its okay i guess. whatever makes em tribals happy..

ssing, doctors cut people to save lives, but these guys are chopping corpses' heads for celebrations. How did you manage to conclude that with doctors as being the evil ones?

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE ACTUALLY SAYING THIS IS PERFECTLY FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
ssingh, pls give me a reference from the vedas prescribing this practice.. there r tonnes of other such practices in tribal india and tribal pakistan.. i cant believe they're all scripture-based..
Re: Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
PakiDragon, when did I say its perfectly fine, you have a very bad habit of assuming and exaggerating towards your own perception.. dogmatism at its best.. i say its pretty weird and you interpret it as perfectly fine LOL!! again... its one of those old school tribal practices probably... but as long as it doesnt harm any1 (i hope theyr not killin pppl to get those bones).... ehh..leave em alone..

dude....you are not seeing my point of view. A practice which harms others should definitely be condemned. Now, did you ever condemn worshipping Godess Kali and called it backward since she has garlands of skull?...definitely you did not.
Re: Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
i never use the word BACKWARD.. :D i just said it probably an old school tribal practice.. and again.. im not condemning it... unless they're killing ppl for bones
Re: Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
Seminolem, it's todays news. I didn't spend three weeks looking in the archives. As it happens, it seems these stories are headlines everyday in Hindustan.
Re: Parading with bones and baby’s corpse to celebrate new year
I thought Hindus roasted their dead, so who's bones are they digging up?
I got no clue man, you're the news reporter from Hindustan (always quoting pakistani newspapers though)... just remember one thing man... do not judge a nation of more than a billion by the deeds of a few hundred... I wont say anything else.. I just remembered that you're that e-jihadi always trying to spit venom on other faiths..

There is nothing old or new in it. Someday i will also not hesitate to try it to know what exactly it is. Ofcourse, i will not harm others.

Yeah, the Daily Times seems to share your glee in digging up these stories. There is probably an equally anti-Pakistan Indian news organization with culturally abhorrent stories about Pakistanis.
If someone were posting those stories with the intent to make broad generalizations about Pakistanis or Muslims, I'd call them out on it too.
