OK, now what’s up with the romance between sehri and paratha. I know of people who wouldn’t eat paratha for months but come Ramazan, they would gorge down at least 30 over a month, some even more.
Does paratha really last long into the day? I was also raised on the same mantra that if you wanna fast, you better eat paratha and any sibling declining at the sehri maze was looked down upon. I remember my brother who never succumbed to paratha pressure, would sit at the table, eyes half shut, staring at the bowl of cereal with cold milk. All the rest of us would be scaring him about the tough hours awaiting him once the azaan is made. He would be too upset for being awake to answer.
I have now turned into my brother. I can’t eat no more parathaas.
Ya eat whatever you like...but Don't bother other people around you when you feel hungry....I am of that lot....that only wake around Sehri to say Namaz & then run to my bed to enjoy that last 1 hr of sleep before going to College/Work....Sehri doesn't make me feel any different(although it is Sunnah & Musnoon)...except for that last 1 hr...but that is natural..
I started to fast very late in life but was never able to take paraatha in sehri. They had to arrange a khamiri roti for me or I would fast without sehri. But as much as I used to hate paraatha, now I love it.
it's been several years now that i don't eat anything in Sehri.. i've finally arrived at this strategy after trying various combinations of, parathas and curry, parathas with yogurt, only parathas, half a paratha, bread and milk, bread with curry, only bread, only milk and many others..
What works THE BEST is having nothing at all.. drink plenty of water and go back to sleep.. only and only this way u don't wake up with your esophagus on fire..
