Pants with Koran Verses Taken Off Sale

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Reuters) - A Michigan store has agreed to stop selling women’s jeans covered with verses from the Koran, a product that Muslim leaders labeled blasphemous, officials for the shopping mall where the store is located say.

Officials for the Northland Center shopping mall on Tuesday bought the remaining 20 pairs of pants, which were inscribed with the words Allah'' and In the name of God, most gracious most merciful.‘’

Other verses from the Muslim holy book ran around the waist and cuffs of the jeans, made by a company called Unity USA.

The owner of the store Hot Stuff 2, located in the mall just a few miles north of Detroit, has agreed to no longer sell the garments, said Northland Center spokeswoman Susan Haddad.

``The pants have all been removed,‘’ Haddad said. ‘‘Hopefully we’ll have peace and the merchant can stop getting all these phone calls.’’

Muslim groups from the Detroit area, which has the largest concentration of Arab-Americans in the United States, had threatened to boycott the store and the mall.

I mean how bad of disrespect can u have for the religion!!!!!!!!!!

WHy would anyone do that?
People comeon get some common sense

Yea What do you Say About That!!?!! JUST bring it!

That’s amazing!
Unbelievable, I partially agree with Pakistani2000, why would anyone do such a thing, knowing that this will be stopped. They wanna make money, they’re into business they wouldn’t wanna get unpopluar among a group of people (in this case the Muslims), and ruin their own business!

Considering how easily the jeans were removed from sale we can probably assume that it was done inadvertently.

I know that there are many people out there that do stuff like this with malicious intent, but this sounds like a case of someone just taking a shine to the caligraphic writing....nothing more.

Well done to those that spotted it and put an end to it.
