"Panic button"

i proposed this some time ago but was it was ignored :bummer:

so I am going to try again…

We should have a big red button (icon) on the top right or left corner of the screen that we can click on in the event that our professor/boss walks by us during class/work :hehe:

Once we click on it…it will immediately take us to another page (automatically logging off of GS)…a page that is more educational or perhaps even a spreadsheet or something :cb:

So what do u guys think?..can this done or what?

Re: "Panic button"

^ what's stopping you from making a toolbar shortcut in your browser which will do the same thing ?

Re: "Panic button"

A couple of other ways:

Alt + tab to switch to another window (internet, word, excel, or whatever)
You will have to point at the panic button and click it; Similarly you can just click on the minimize or exit button

Re: "Panic button"

Back in years, I used to play this Family Feud online. Inside of their game window, they had this red panic button on the lower right-hand corner which, upon being clicked, took you to a full-screen spreadsheet with Lord knows what kind of calculations and unholy numbers. Since the game itself is interacted with keyboard only, it was not as handy to grab the mouse in time and click on that panic button. They did not have a shortcut, which was a nuisance.

The downside of implementing this kind of a thing might be that, in most cases, programs such as spreadsheet or Word neither are a substitute nor they closely resemble the type of work that one does. If your boss does walk by and happen to see something that is completely unrelated to your line of professional field, whether that be a computer game or a full-screen version of anything, for that, there is no logical explanation.

But yes, alternative suggestions are given above. ALT + TAB is preferable.

Re: "Panic button"

"show desktop" button in quick launch comes very handy sometimes as well. ;) Click it and open something else from the desktop... as ALT+TAB can be dangerous if you have multiple windows open and each one worst than the other. :D

Re: "Panic button"

They have this on lastminute.com!

You can be searching for holidays one minute and looking at a spreadhseet the next - I think the button is called "QUICK the Boss is watching"

But I agree - a spreadsheet wouldn't be applicable to EVERYONE's work/school stuff

Re: “Panic button”

i suppose you guys are right :bummer:

Re: “Panic button”

Or we should activate some sort of anti-boss shortcut like they have on MSN Plus… (ctrl + space). :cb: I love that. It’s saved me from my parents about a zillion times when I’m supposed to be doing homework. :]

Re: “Panic button”

How do you do that?:konfused:I tried it:bummer:
