Thanks Spock for those kind words Your comment reflects your own good and respecting character mashallah…May Allah bless you bro :k:
Yup Niqabi is me…Sorry for talking to you like I didn’t know you in that thread…Actually I didn’t want my identity to be revealed as irem, but then everyone found out since some people guessed it so I just said OK I’ll come out from hiding…
My initial plan was to stay here and apply for jobs here in th Silicon Valley and work on OPT and also apply for masters in the meanwhile and join a masters program in Fall '04 next yr and then head back home after completing masters. I hadn’t started looking for jobs yet because I was waiting for my OPT to come before I started my job search. But my friend’s friend, after he found out that I had just graduated, just said to me that there was an availability at his company and he could get me a job there, and that the company would process the premium H-1 in 15 days. That was what I was talking about in the other thread, which I had opened as Niqabi… It was very nice of him to mention that to me and I considered it briefly because I really like that company but, I didn’t follow up with that as I spoke to some people and they advised me to wait for the OPT if I wanted to work. OPT will come late and I didn’t want to just wait around till then. I didn’t follow up with that situation therefore…
My plans have changed now though and I’ve decided to go back to Pakistan for this one year interim period before I start my masters inshallah instead of working here
Where are you planning to do your masters from? Stanford again?
Anywayz, in Pakistan there are alot of multinational companies offerring many jobs to fresh graduates. A friend of mine, who is a recent graduate from a US college went back and got hired in Motorola at Karachi, even though alot of my class mates from NUST also got hired at Motorola. They had a nationwide screening test to make sure that they get the best candidates. In Islamabad too, there are alot of excellent companies, such as Enabling Technologies (Avaz Networks), And OR Logic, Elixir Technologies etc that you might want to check out. I remember you mentioning that you wanted to work for some NGO. For that, I would recommend SDNP (Sustainable Development Networking Programme), adminsitered by the UNDP. The website is http://www.sdnp.undp.org/
Spock, not sure yet, I'll apply to Stanford too but I'll also be applying to other US schools, UK, Canada and Germany inshallah...in the end, depending on which departments I get it in which college(s) and also many other things...I'll make my final choice then....abhee kuch naheen keh sakti :-)
Thanks for the info about companies and the NGO. I'll definitely check those out.
