Palmistry

salams

I’m not sure what the exact Islamic opinion is on palmistry…I opened this thread to hear ppl’s experiences abt palmistry…

some ppl I know really believe in it…even abt major things…

but i have heard that this is SHIRK…

I never showed my hand to any ghayr, but I showed it to some people in my family who are known to be very good palmists by everyone…just like that coz they were elders and asked to see it…some said good things some said bad things…but they never told me the bad things but told me to be careful abt certain things…n subconciously i find myself thinking abt that…

once my cousin saw my hand and told me something really bad which i wont say here but when i think abt it it sure makes my ming a little worried tho i think i shudnt care abt it…but i cant seem to help it…its weird…

i know a young man who passed away and his father was a palmist…after his passing away ppl said to his father how come u dint see that coming if u r such a great palmist and he said he saw somethig in his son’s hand but he never looked at it properly and dint wana believe it…

another person i know was told he was going to die soon in an accident but he is mashallah se still alive…its been abt five yrs or so..

there r many many such stories…

what really is a shocking story is that in my cousin;s university in pakistan, there was this guy who was an expert palmist…he looked at their classfellow’s hand and told her she was married and divorced…and he dint even know her..and apparently the girl was actually married and divorced but she had not told anyone in her college, only her close family knew…

aap logon ka kya khayal hae haath dikhanay ke baray mein…what r ur general thoughts n experiences on this..? do share…

i've shown my hand to ppl who claimed they knew about these things..but it was all in fun and for good laughs..i dont believe in these things..really.. u can never know whats going to happen in future.

Irem sotan I hope you don't mind if I add the Islamic point of view first :-)

Allah has written the fate and he changes the fate of a person as and when He pleases. We know from Hadiths that prayers (Du’a), Sadqa (alms) and good deeds cause to change the fate. It is correct that the results of our efforts are not in our hands but it has been specifically ordained that one should make all his efforts along with praying and placing His faith in Allah for the results.

Quran has explicitly declared: “Say: None in the heavens or on earth except Allah knows what is hidden...” (27:65).

It must remain clear that there are some things, which, according to Quran, man will never be able to know. They will always remain in Ghaib for mankind no matter how much knowledge he acquires. For example two such things have been mentioned in the last verse of Surah Luqman. “..And no one knows what he will earn on the next day and no body knows in which land he is to die...”(31:34). To try to know these through any science, occult or exact will always remain unlawful.

now my experience..

never believed in such things... but sometimes in friends we just joke around with our different little stories without any intension of believing in it. :-)

Talking of Islamic point, let me share a jist of a hadith Insha ALLAH not the exact words though:

Whosoever go to a future-teller and believe in what is said to him is not among us (Muslims).

As far as the knowledge of such people goes, Islamic teachings confirm such things are actually source of knowledge but forbidden…

In the name of ALLAH: The Most Beneficient, The Most Merciful:

16.:flower1: It is Allah Who have set out the zodiacal signs in the heavens, and made them fair-seeming to (all) beholders;

**17.:flower1: And (moreover) We have guarded them from every evil spirit accursed:

18.:flower1: But any that gains a hearing by stealth, is pursued by a flaming fire, bright (to see). **

[Surah 15. Al-hijr, Stoneland, Rock City]

6.:flower1: Allah has indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,-

7.:flower1: (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,

**8.:flower1: (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,

9.:flower1: Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,

  1. Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.**

[Surah 37. Those Who Set The Ranks, Drawn Up In Ranks]

The above ayaah shows that shayaateen-e-jinnaat do get knowledge from heaven sometimes but always incomplete as “the missiles of ALLAH- Shihaab-e-Saaqib” are always fired at them… Tafaaseer explain this further that these jinnat among shayaateen give these news to such humans who are palmist or astrologer with the addition of false news in it (mirch masaalaa).. that is why some times many things are so right but not absolute ever… AND WE ARE TOLD NOT TO GO AND BELIEVE IN SUCH PEOPLE. PERIOD

thanks for ur replies surror, tano sotan :p and gadha bhai!!
:)

jazakallah to tano and g bhai for the islamic references :)

very often threads on such topics have been opened and each time i say that such fortune-telling-stories are non-sense.

If coincidentally one thing comes true so much emphasis is put on it that the MANY other instances when it is wrong are remained underlit.

Just pure out of selection of positive results people refer to it, whereas the many more wrong results remain unmentioned.

in conclusionem: do not believe it...

X-C-lent pwaaint ness bhai :k:

assalamoalikum :jhanda:

palmistry is haram, ofcourse it is!!!

once i showed my hand to this palmist. he said you'll become rich very soon. i robbed him right away and became rich :-)

moral of the story : apparently he was unaware of his OWN bad luck :-)

hello! :-)
kia story hai? :-)

JazakAllah for sharing the info.

Palmistry is a bunch of huey! no one can predict the future except God.

:flower1:

irem jee, baat yeh heh, palmistry meh haq heh, actually kafee haq heh if the person who interprets yur palms knows the science well. Same with astrology us meh be haqq heh, and the zodiac us meh be haq heh, the level of haqq varies from subject to the other. Its not about the idea of shirk, because shirk is a very deep subject which not many people understand. All im gonna say to u is this, the lines of the heart, the lines of pride, the lines of wealth, the spaces between fingers, the bumps where the fingers start, the lines of izzut, the lines of life, if we get them interpreted it doesnt come down to we believe in our palms and not Allah t'aalah, we knw Allah is the haqq and everything else comes through Allah t'aalahs blessings. The reason i would not advise people to see astronomers, and palmists, is because many are frauds, and do not know what they are doing. Secondly they could tell u things which might scare u (this comes mainly from inexperienced palmists). If someone has told u something negative do not dwell on it, yaad rukna yur palms do not mean anything, just as the zodiac doesnt mean anything, just as the stars do not mean anything. Everything in its essence is ordained by Allah t'aalah, when we read namaz and behave like muslims we take our guidance directly from Allah t'aalah and not from our palms or the stars or the planets, it all comes down to the fundamental concept of tauheed. When u understand everything, absolutely everything comes from Allah' taa'lah, and in everything there is always a blessing and rehmut which at many times is initially hard to see, u then can have peace of mind. Because u have emaan, without this acceptance of Allah's decree people can be left confused and agitated. Zindagy meh try n stay happy, regardless of watever any body tells u, because as a muslim u should know there is no protecting friend apart from Allah taalah.

just a few passing comments.

My thoughts exactly. :k: never showed it to a professional either.

Par jis ne bhi dekha aik baat ki jis se main pait ke bal hansne par majboor ho gaya :rotfl: even our AJ (resident jaali palmist) said it. I wonder why? :konfused: It must be something VERY evident then.
