This is not a two-sided battle. It's one sided.
You place a seige on civilian population backed by the largest arms dealer in the world, deprive them of water, medical supplies, electricity and food. Then bomb them day and night, and see if they throw roses back at you.

The "civilian population" has voted a terrorist organization into power and its the terrorist organization thats being targeted. You support those terrorists only because they share your religion - try to be objective and think outside of the box. If the roles were reversed (as they were prior to 1940s) you would have supported the aggressors just because they were Muslims.
