Palestinian homes are demolished again

GAZA, May 18 (Reuters) - Hamas Islamists ruling the Gaza Strip have been demolishing Palestinian homes they say were built without permits, leading to unwelcome comparisons to arch-enemy Israel.

On Sunday, Hamas carried out a series of demolitions – it says it destroyed 11 illegally-built homes and local residents put the number at 26 – in Rafah. Hamas said such criticism is politically motivated. Issa al-Nashar, Rafah’s mayor and a Hamas member, said the Gaza government would continue to carry out demolitions and “target land dealers who built private property on state land”.

**Owners of the disputed tracts in Rafah said the land has been owned by their families since the 1940s.
**
Issa Al-Sdodi, an employee of the previous Fatah-led administration, said Hamas policemen accompanied by bulldozers knocked down his three-storey house without advance notice. “I put my savings into building it and now my family of 10 is homeless,” Sdodi told Reuters. Fatheya al-Ghezawi, 52, sat in the sand with her daughter near the rubble of her home, which had housed her family of 15.

Remind you of anything?

Re: Palestinian homes are demolished again

What are you trying to say? That Hamas is the same Evil as Zionist apartheid regime?

No, I'm trying to say that "building private property on state land" is a common phenomenon regardless of religious/ethnic/political affiliation, and that "the land has been owned by their families since ...whatever" is a common excuse, again regardless of religious/ethnic/political affiliation. Yet, some people make a political capital out of these issues nevertheless.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Zionist settler Yitzhak Hircovich assaulted 90-year-old Palestinian woman Sheeha Ali in the tent she has pitched after he took her own house in Beit Safafa village south of occupied Jerusalem in mid April.
Sheeha said that the settler insulted her then kicked and beat her then threw her to the ground, along with her four-year-old grandson.
She said that her grandson was injured in the head while she was bruised all over her body.
Sheeha noted that the settlers have been harassing her for the past 18 years ever since she took her case to court against those who were trying to take over her home.

The lady has a very vivid imagination despite her age.

q

by "whatever"? How about hundreds of years?
Why do you Zionists put away your common sense and sense of justice when it comes to occupation and apartheid?

From the same website, a statement that this Zionist did not quote:
"Hamas has proven to be identical to the Israeli occupation," Ahmed Assaf, a spokesman for the rival Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said on Tuesday.

So all this Zionist is saying is that Hamas inflicted atrocity similar to his Nazionist countrymen. Nothing else.
This Zionist is trying to justify his terrorism using a group which he himself calls terrorists.

Yes, just like in this case. And I'm sure they have papers to prove it :)

Yes, the Palestinian political rival of Hamas equals them with the Zionists. I'm shocked :)

As I said, there is nothing new under the sun, just the same political spins.

Re: Palestinian homes are demolished again

What's your point of starting a thread, if not using Hamas' actions as justification of yours?
But how can you prove your point by giving examples of people you yourself call terrorists?

Re: Palestinian homes are demolished again

Even China recongnizes Hamas as a violent terrorist organization:

China calls for Hamas to renounce violence, recognize Israelwww.chinaview.cn 2006-05-30 15:58:31

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China calls for Hamas to take into consideration the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people, and to renounce violence, recognize Israel.
And it should accept previously reached Palestinian-Israeli agreements, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao at a regular press conference here Tuesday.
The European Union and the United States have cut off aid to the Palestinian National Authority since the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) formed a government in late March.
Liu said that the Chinese side is concerned about the situation in the Middle East, and doesn't stand for political isolation and economic blockage. He said all the relevant parties in the Middle East should solve disputes through political consultations based on relevant resolutions of the United Nations and the principle of land for peace, so as to realize peaceful coexistence. Liu also said the Chinese side will make clear its stance to Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahmoud al-Zahar who will attend the foreign ministers' meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum to be held in Beijing on Wednesday and Thursday.
