Palestine is STILL the issue.....

Anyone watch the documentary??

I did feel sorry for the ISraeli gvmt dealing with these unconventional terrorists up and till the point i saw video footage of Israeli soldiers holding the arms of prisoners and deliberatly breaking their arm bones…shoulder bones by bashing bricks onto them…

Or maybe the classrooms where children are supposed to enjoy their childhood, learn, play…left splattered with paint, complimentary bags of ****, furniture in smithereens after an oh so, routine ‘search’…

Makes you wonder…

John Pilger now faces a reprimand for his documentary which is being investigated by the Independent Television Commission. It seems hundreds of Jewish/Zionist wrote to them and complained about how biased it was, they are demanding a Pro-Zionist documentary with which to balance it out....

:(

I had also watch it and I felt …:frowning:

ITC GETS 100 Complaints and probes pilger ! (MPAC ALERT)

TV regulator probes Pilger documentary
Leon Symons
THE TV industry regulator, the Independent Television Commission, has launched an inquiry into whether a pro-Palestinian ITV documentary by veteran campaigning journalist John Pilger breached its programme code on impartiality and accuracy.

The ITC said this week that it had received more than 100 complaints about the programme, “Palestine Is Still The Issue,” broadcast on Monday of last week. But a spokesperson stressed that the inquiry was being instituted at its own volition.

“As the regulator, our issue is whether or not the code has been breached.

“We do not need external complaints to start an inquiry, only someone from the ITC to have watched the programme.”

The spokesperson explained that all complaints were read, points raised summarised, and then sent to the broadcaster —together with the ITC’s own views — for a response. The ITC would then decide whether the programme code had been breached.

The process was likely to take about two months.

If a breach has occurred, the broadcaster could face sanctions ranging from a ban on re-broadcasting to financial penalties.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Coun-cil of Great Britain has questioned Carlton TV chairman Michael Green’s outspoken criticism of the programme, calling it “one-sided [and] totally unrealistic.”

Although defending Mr Pilger’s right to express his opinions, Mr Green had called for a further programme “showing another point of view.”

The MCB wrote to Mr Green expressing “a deep sense of in-credulity” at his remarks.

“Our central purpose for writing is to ascertain whether it is the official policy of public-service broadcasters to ensure Israel’s immunity from criticism.”

We have all been encouraged to write to the ITC to express our support for Pilger.

Unbelievable state of affairs. Even Pilger’s family is not spared - the murder of his family is considered “not a bad idea” according to one vitriolic complainant.

Here it is in Pilger’s own words:

"Merely [criticizing Israel] invites intimidation and smear, which, says Yishai Rosen-Zvi, one of the brave Israelis who have refused to serve in the Occupied Territories, “has been the huge bluff of the Israeli establishment. [Every] criticism of its policies is called anti-Semitism, [when] criticising your country’s policy is the only patriotic thing that one can do.” He said this in my documentary Palestine Is Still the Issue, which was broadcast on ITV1 last month.

The horde of mostly vicious, violent and threatening bigots who assaulted Carlton Television following the film’s transmission made no mention of him or the other decent, reasoning Israelis I interviewed and featured.

…Indeed, most of those interviewed were Israelis, including “settlers” and Ariel Sharon’s closest adviser, who was given the most airtime. Not a word about this was uttered by the ranters, who e-mailed their abuse and screamed down the phone from all points west of Finchley, including New York and California. Many were Americans, none of whom had seen the film. Analysing the e-mails, we calculate that around 10 per cent are genuine critical responses to the film. Most of the rest have a generic theme, including those clearly orchestrated by a thoroughly sinister organisation called HonestReporting.

Following a similar assault last year on the Guardian’s Middle East correspondent, Suzanne Goldenberg (who was abused as a “self-hating Jew”), an investigation by the paper revealed a website, www.honestreporting.com, that gave no address and was registered under a London name and phone number that seemed not to exist. The site was set up by a 27-year-old called Jonathan, who pleaded, as cowards in his situation do, that his name not be published.

This organisation is now funded in America by a front called Media Watch International, run by one Shraga Simmons. Simmons is employed by a group of Zionist fanatics known as Aish HaTorah. According to David Leigh in the Guardian, Aish HaTorah was “founded by Rabbi Noah Weinberg, who complains that ‘20,000 kids a year’ are being lost to Judaism by marrying out. Aish invented speed-dating - eight-minute sessions in cafés to help New Yorkers find compatible Jewish partners. They’re widely regarded as right-wing extremists. And they’re certainly not entitled to harass the media into what they would call ‘objectivity’.”

It goes beyond that. Many of the e-mails are quite disgusting, containing menacing racist filth of the kind you associate with anti-Semitic fascists. The murder of my family is considered “not a bad idea”. I am a “demonic psychopath” and likened to David Irving. Someone called Arie Karseboom says that I must belong to a Nazi party or have an Arab wife: otherwise, a film explaining the injustice done to the Palestinians is simply inexplicable!

The distinguished Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, whose works are taught in universities all over the world and who describes my film as “balanced [and] faultless in its historical description”, is called a “pro-Arab dog” and worse.

In order to create the impression of an avalanche of complaints, many of the e-mails run to five or six pages. Not all the writers are American fanatics. At Carlton’s offices in London, the duty officers have been abused by those close by. They have been called “worse than Hitler”. I have had death threats. A Jewish friend says that the Jewish community has to take some responsibility for this outrageous behaviour from even its “respectable” members. For example, a doctor from Cheshire suggested in an e-mail that I had been personally bribed by Yasser Arafat in return for “programs like that [that] encourage the murder of innocent Jewish civilians . . .” Note the American spelling of programme, which indicates that the nice doctor from Cheshire may not write his own bile.

The invective and threats increased noticeably the day after Michael Green, the Jewish chairman of Carlton, attacked his own company’s film in off-the-cuff abuse in the Jewish Chronicle, calling it “a tragedy for Israel” and “inaccurate”. Two weeks on, Green has yet to identify let alone substantiate a single “inaccuracy”. He should apologise to those of us who have distinguished his company with careful, fair and truthful work. His irresponsibility is a disgrace.

The Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem has complained to the Israeli government about its “defence force” targeting journalists - that is, shooting to kill them, just as they routinely kill Palestinians. The next step is for the same foreign journalists, who privately express understanding of the historic injustice done to people suffering one of the longest occupations in modern times, to reject the craven intimidation coming from New York and Finchley and Cheshire, and speak the truth."

Every journalist who tries to uncover the atrocities of the Zionists comes up against such a hate campaign. For example Rober Fisk who uncovered the workings of honestreporting.com, he has always been pro-Palestinian and routinely received death threats, even from high profile Zionists: John Malkovitch (American actor) said publicly how much he would like to kill Fisk.

Honestreporting.com have a mailing list 55,000 strong, they will spam anyone who says anthing remotely pro-Palestinian/Anti-Israel, however justifiable it maybe. Here in the UK, The Telegraph, The Sun (among others) are both owned by Zionists, they constantly print pro-Israeli/anti-Islamic articles. Despite there being three million Muslims in the UK, how many of them do you think complain about Israeli bias/anti-Islamic comments. Not very many…
The MAB (Muslim Assoc of Britain which has been accused by Zionists of being anti-semitic!) monitors the various media in Britain, MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Committee) media dept then sends out alerts to our mailing list, so that people can commend or condemn someone accordingly. We have made a difference, in the Pilger case, we asked people to praise the documentary and for the first time in history, the praise equalled the amount of complaints. Believe me this never would have happened a few years ago, all ITV would have got is complaints from Zionists…this really rattled the Zionists…

All those British Muslims here, pls join our mailing list and make a difference!!!

Allah hafiz,

Having not seen the documentary, I am in no position to voice an opinion regarding its content. However, having read both Pilger and Fisk ad nausea, I certainly can say that their collective written works are anything but fair, balanced and unbiased. They start with an assumed premise (usually anti-American and anti-Israel) and they proceed to use language and selective reporting of “facts” to attempt to prove the validity of their opinion without offering any glimpse into the merits of the other side. This is typically not journalism designed to inform so much as editorial designed to persuade.

It would not shock me to learn that a piece of work by Pilger called a “documentary” would evidence this same pattern. Obviously, the ITC has a code of rules requiring broadcasts touted as documentaries to be impartial and accurate. I don’t understand why anyone would moan and complain that they are conducting an investigation to determine whether this broadcast was, in fact, impartial and accurate.

It fascinates me to hear people jumping up and down complaining that people who hold pro-Palestinian positions or are critical of Israel are immediately labeled anti-Semitic by some. Need I point out that people who voice pro-Israel positions or are critical of Palestinians are automatically labeled Zionists, fascists and anti-Palestinian by some as well. Some Guppyites and a lot of denizens of the world need to learn that you can be critical of actions by Palestinians and supportive of certain Israeli actions without being Zionist or fascist just as you can be critical of actions by Israel and supportive of certain Palestinian positions without being anti-Semitic. It’s the people who cannot or will not acknowledge that both sides have meritorious positions and legitimate grievances that are the zealots and pose the most danger. Frankly, I think Pilger falls into this category more often than not.

Little human ~ I'm a soft person. I feel for anyone who can make me feel sorry them :) So i can't hate Jews etc. But of course i am NATURALLY a little more biased to the Palestinians because they're muslim :)

And we need MORE from the likes of Fisk,Pilger..

Thanks Afreen…for posting this article…
