Gov is finding it difficult to find a counsel. Sharifuddin Pirzadza has declined to be goverment's counsel in this case. Prior to this Khalid Anwar and Fakhruddin Jee Ibrahim have declined to represent government.
they are representing the people supposedly if the charges are infact true, but hey who wants to get burnt right now...politics are more important than the truth or the interest of the nation.
Roadrunner - aid money is not insignificant. look at the forex reserve and how much of it is aid money, then you will know
This is just nonsensical again... I will explain it for you briefly this time.
Before 911, between July 00 and July 01, Pakistani Forex increased 138 percent to just over 3 billion. This was well before 911 remember, and following 911 Forex increased only 105 percent. These are all figures you can look up. The cause of the increasing Forex was clearly not due to aid, but due to something that happened before 00 (purchase of remittances from workers by the SBP was one of the main reasons for this).
The Forex is not some hugely important money generator for the economy. It is basically just an economic stabilizer. It helps maintain a countries export capability, but the money generated from foreign reserves is pittance compared to the size of the economy itself. When you consider most of Pakistan's Forex is from worker remittances, and foreign investment into the country (I can site several cases where 1 foreign investment has amounted to more than all the aid money from the US combined in the last 8 years), the actual amount of Forex is negligible compared to the size the economy has expanded over the last 8 years.
Prior to 9/11, most overseas akistanis used to send their money thru illegal money laundrers who paid higher price for foreign currency, popularly called **"Hundi". **As a result, government did not get any Forex in exchange for Pakistani currency. To curb on finances of terrorrist groups, this practice of "Hundi" was abolished in all countries by long arm of Ucle Sam. The money thus started to flow thru official channels and Forex rose up tremendously.
Adv. Abdul Qayyum has also declined the govt's request to be their counsel. So, lets add up, how many have exactly accepted the govt. invitation to be their counsel? I also read in some paper that the AG is not going to fight the govt's case and in the previous hearing he was appeared at the specific request of Justice Iqbal...dont know the validity of it though. The news report further mentioned that current AG's father also had a reference filed against him so he is hesistant to represent the govt.

As usual, the confused mumble has nothing to do with what anyone was talking about. Hundiwala restriction have contributed to increases in some SBP reserves, but these remittances are NOT aid money. The main turnaround in the reserve exchange occurred in early 2000, well before 911 and well before any aid was given.
Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath” has been stopped as the government has imposed ban on it, said the spokesman of the Geo Television Network.
I thought mushie and his desciples and groupies many on this very forum had been jumping up and down like hormonal teenagers sometime back that there was freedom of press in pakistan...whatever the frick happened to that...
Poor guy probably got threatened by ISI to withdraw his resignation.

I dont know Moazzem Begg's story. But one thing about his story that I'm not sure even he justifies properly is the fact that he did attend training camps in Afghanistan. He claims only as an observer I think. But hey, I never had the inclination to even think about going to one of those places.
Hasnt gone in still I see with some people. The inquiry is there to determine whether there is enough proof to sack the Chief Justice. The Constitution says the President only need be of the opinion that Chief Justice is corrupt for him to call the SJCouncil to inquire into the matter. The President will not decide the fate of the Chief Justice, it will be the Council.
The only thing I hate more than backward ignorant people, are backward ignorant people who cannot admit when they're wrong, despite the glaringly clear evidence. All corrupt to the hilt if they had the chance.
I wonder why the government didn;t hire u as minister for information or may be to appear before SJC for the governmen..
It doesnt contradict it at all. I dont know his full story, I just heard bits. I’m sure he’s a mate of yours, I’m just pointing out what I heard him say on the one occasion I bothered to watch him on tv.

Not interested in the governmental jobs. I came into this conversation with a neutral viewpoint, not knowing much about the Pakistani Constitution and learnt,
1) Musharraf is constitutionally correct in what he's done
2) Lawyers in pakistan are actually semi literate thugs some of them and
3) There's some Pakistanis that are absolutely clueless about their own Constitutional Laws.
