ICC Champions Trophy India 2006
On the recommendation of the National Selection Committee, PCB has announced the initial squad of 30 players for the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 in India. The squad is as follows:

Man we have players like Sami, Mohammad Hafeez, Abdur Rehman, Tahir Khan, Mohammad Irshad, Mansoor Amjad, Samiullah Khan & Akhtar Ayub in the list and yet we decide to drop Shahid Nazir.
I wonder what these so called selectors use to 'think'

They all get selected & Shahid Nazir doesn't? Sometimes you wonder who has the biggest "Sefarashi Chitti" to the selectors? That's completely beyond logic and just pathetic again.

Where's Mohammad Khalil, he's been bowling better than Irshad and Akhtar Ayub. Where's Rafatullah Mohmand? Where's Shahid Nazir? And why r Butt, Hameed, and Taufeeq in there?

Akhtar Ayub, Irshad, Samiullah Niazi etc are in and probably the best U19 bowler Jamshed Ahmad and on of the best left arm bowler Najaf Shah cannot even make into the squad of 30:confused:

Ayub, Shahid Yousef will make the cut along with Hameed I think. No noticeable spinner I hope Tahir/Rehman is picked for the final 16, I would like to see this 16

Same ole, same ole. I am sure we all know what the final 16 man squad will be.
By the way, where is Yasir Arafat?? Apparently a bowler who can bowl 90+ mph and has a batting average of 40+ at the county level isn't good enough to even get into the 30 man squad. No sirree, those spots are taken up by the likes Rao, Yasir Hameed, Farhat, Taufeeq, etc.

hahahaha. so true.
At least Akhtar Ayub has been included... not that he is the best bowling option, but this shows that we are willing to give the young and raw talent a chance.
I'm itching to see Jamshed Ahmad one day thoguh... I swear he's Wasim Akrams clone. The guy even looks like him.

Saleem Altaf said that Pakistan were trying to get Shahid Nazir included in their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy after he was originally left out of the 30-man party.
Nazir returned from a six-year absence to impress with ball and bat at Headingley and the PCB are now trying to get him included in their provisional squad for the Champions Trophy.
“The 30-member squad has already been sent to the ICC with the final 14 to be announced by September 7,” Altaf said.
“But we are requesting the ICC to allow us to include Nazir in the provisional squad now.”
Pakistan have included openers Imran Farhat, Salman Butt and Taufiq Umar in the provisional squad despite their continued failures in the Tests.
