Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
Sorry to be pessimistic but I have seen a large number of Pakistani girls who get educated, get ahead in a career, only to have it cut short by the demands of our culture.
Asalam-u-alaikum: U r right, but listen they need to bring up kidz, for the future of this country , or do u want Budaha pilots??:) But Mashallah Pakistan is Making Big Imporvements, sitting from far away i can see, but there are some areas that need more attention then this one, and by the way Brother ( i think) In islam woman are suppose to bring up a good Family, for the future of Islam and their nation.
Thanx
Allah hafiz
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
Congratulations on this to all pakistanis and expats.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
well if my latest info is right, the first batch of female GDP cadets will pass out this spring and once they are comissioned only then will it be decided according to their passing out credentials whether theyd be sent to fighter conversion or transport conversion. thats how it's done for all passing out GDP cadets, so there's no predetermined career plan for them and there is no bias either. they can go as far as they can.
Re: Pakistan’s first women fighter pilots
hey haris zuberi…![]()
is the pak military lettin em women into any other branch? like marines? rangers? general infantry? and all the GOOD stuff…are they allowed?
i know back around the kargil time - the dudes issued a statement saying something like “abhi apni behno ki zarurat nehi ayi hai”
so are med corps and air force the only way in?
i’d appreciate a reply from u…u seem to know what ur smokin

All-women crew pilots plane for 1st time
By Zulqernain Tahir
LAHORE, Jan 25: A unique record was set in the country’s aviation history on Wednesday when a woman pilot and her all-women crew flew a PIA Fokker plane without any assistance from men. Captain Ayesha Rabia Naveed was in command of the first all-women crew of the national air carrier which transported 40 passengers from the federal capital to Lahore in the afternoon.
Flight PK-623 created a unique aviation record for the national air carrier as both the pilot and co-pilot were women. In the past, flights have either had a male pilot or co-pilot.
The PIA captain, allowed to fly only Fokker flights, was accompanied by three crew members. The co-pilot was Ms Sadia.
The passengers aboard the plane did not know about all-female crew flight until it had made a landing. It was a surprise for some of them when they saw the PIA station master garlanding the crew members on their successful flight in the lounge of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal airport.
Some of the female passengers also approached the crew and congratulated them.
“Our women have proved they are capable of even flying aircraft. During the flight there was no difference at all and it was quite interesting to know at landing,” said Mr Khan, one of the passengers.
“I think PIA should have made this occasion a special one by boarding all female passengers as well. I must tell my family in Islamabad that women no more look after the kitchen only. This is indeed encouraging for our girls,” a housewife said.
At present, Capt Ayesha is the sole woman pilot of PIA who is licenced to fly Fokker plane only. She remained co-pilot or first officer for 15 years and has 6,000 flying hours behind her.
Capt Ayesha told this reporter that the all-women crew flight was a great experience for her and other crew members. They were all ecstatic about the successful flight.
“It was such a nice feeling to fly with a female co-pilot and crew members. The flight was smooth and we enjoyed it. It is also a great achievement for me and PIA as well,” she added.
“I have dreams of flying Airbus and Boeing aircraft,” said Ayesha, who was promoted as a captain in April 2005.

Re: Pakistan’s first women fighter pilots
Hi Pink Carnation Princess,
First of all a warm welcome to the forum.
About your question. Actually the Pakistan Air Force has been inducting women into their Air Traffic Control, Psychology departments for some years and the first and second batch of GDp female cadets was selected six months apart about three years ago. So far there has been no word on whether it will be done again or not. similarly the very first batch of engineering cadets was also inducted at that time and female entry was closed six months later.
As far as fighting braches go, in all three forces i.e. Army, Navy and PAF, these 2 batches of GDP cadets has been the very first instance, and even for these few girls, it’s not confirmed yet whether they will actually make it to fighter squadrons or to transport squadrons. still some time left before thats decided according to their own abilities/performance.
The army has women working very successfuly in medical corps but they have never been inducted into any fighting arm. and i dont think theres any intention within the army for doing so anytime soon, maybe due to the reason that you mentioned above from Kargil time. The navy seems to have women employed in more branches, education, medical, psychological etc. but again, not in any of the fighting branches.
So I guess no combat thrills at the moment ![]()
However, the Pakistan Sky Marshalls have female officers and staff and they are trained in combat and work alongside men in airplanes facing all combat dangers.
Re: Pakistan’s first women fighter pilots
hello again.
sky marshalls…is that part of the air force? or an independent branch of the military? gahh. i am so uninformed. so there is the navy, the army, and the air force. any other divisions? ![]()
my friend was telling me once that the 3 reasons pakistanis can feel safe are the fauj, the shaheen, and the bahaireya. isnt that so cute? ![]()
anyhow. thanks for the enlightment.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
p.c.p.
Indeed, our three forces mean a lot to our national stability aswell as peaceful existance in the region.
The Sky Marshalls are not a part of the military as such and are a seperate force involved in the security operations concerned with airports, airplanes, commercial flights, airlines etc and (probably) function under the Civil Aviation Authority. they are trained by the army, navy, airforce special service teams and also by the elite police. Their jobs can be on ground or in the air. Sky Marshalls are on board all flights and are trained to counter any terrorist threats/ emergencies etc. They are well versed in hand to hand combat skills and first aid and carry concealed weapons. the reformed structure of the sky marshalls force with women eligible to join was introduced shortly after the 9/11 attacks.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
interesting. very interesting.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
Honestly, i congratulate all of the women of pakistan and the airforce. But i do have my doubts and it's nothing personal. I feel and know that women and machinery never mix. Women do not have a technical mind. I have experience women drivers for example my wife. I don't ever let her drive when i am around. They have better capability elsewhere but as a pilot? I wouldn't bet on it. Women aren't smart when it comes to handling a huge machine. But as i said it's nothing personal.
Cheers!!!
P.S: This does not apply to each and every women.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
It's wonderful to see women entering the armed forces...plus I heard they are better than the men...

Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
^General Duty Pilot
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
not fighter pilot whats the diffrence between them?
Re: Pakistan’s first women fighter pilots
shaneshania,
GDP is a stream of intake for prospective pilots that the PAF opens every 6 months. When selecting GDPs the PAF selects future pilots only. Whether they will become fighter pilots or transporters, VIP flyers or cargo flyers is something that’s decided later when they graduate from the Basic Flight Training crouses at the PAF academy. Becoming a pilot is the basic thing and becoming a fighter, transporter etc is the specialization which can only be best selected after enough screenig, training, experience, judgement and assessement by senior trainers and instructors as all areas require different aptitudes.

Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
Women shouldn't be flying planes. If I ever get married, and any of my wives tried to pull this stunt, they wouldn't know what hit them.
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
Kudos to them.. mashallah. Hope this doesnt annoy the likes of Jamaat and Qazi saab
Re: Pakistan's first women fighter pilots
