Pakistan's Economy under Musharraf

That really is the ground reality… very well answered questions and very well explained.

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

what was the ground reality when nawaz and benazir was ruling Pakistan?

it was far worse than what it is today.

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

Really..? i must have lived in another Pakistan then.. i m not saying it was a paradise but it was much better than this...

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

Is that why so many Pakistani's have protested against Mush, and demanded the dictator go?

The situation may look different on paper, but the ground realities, crime, power, inflation are sadly all much worse.

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

1990 was indeed a slump in economy! Since 2001 the economy is growing. Whether it is due to post 9/11 events or due to government policies is debatable. But still our economy is developing on strong footings unless we produce capital goods.

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

True. Don't forget before 9/11, Pak was under sanctions as well. The situation was radically different

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

If you have gone through the link, you would have seen the argument that the economy is growing but its based on casino style economy... where money is made on speculation and not on real manufacturing sector growth.. I mean yes we have lots of mobile connection but still all the mobiles are imported from abroad, equipments are imported from abroad even software used by Mobilink and others are all foreign... So that what i m trying to say that we could have build lot of manufacturing capacity and it could have solved other problems like unemployment, difference between rich and poor and many more.. comments on the discussion in the links will be much appreciated instead of unrelevant argumentations

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

nawaz shariff is funding those supporters...nobody is fool to go in the rally in this heat. plz try to understand our politics. they can do anything to come into power and to destory pakistan again as they did in past.

oppostion parties sab khuch karkey fail ho chuki hai, CJ is their only last hope to get into power. which will also fail inshallah.

Long live Musharraf !

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

Yes you are right. That's why i said we need to manufacture capital goods for real development. Instead we are importing consumer goods and lavishly spending our resoucres.

Re: Pakistan's Economy under Musharraf

I have studied from the best institution of Lahore... i have friends in LUMS.. and you know in an institution like LUMS foreign professors are supporting pupil to go to these rallies.. they are really shocked to see how a CJ of this country is treated by a dictator... my graduate and MBA friends went to the rallies.... they are highly paid profressional... we had a lecture on the politics in my university where computer teacher lectured that yes politics is important for the existance of a society... it was a gr8 lecture by a computer teacher and i m really sad not to record it but really happy to hear it...

So my foreign friends always ask me if i visited the latest protest in my city.... i myself was surprised to see that how many people have suddenly awaken to politics especially this new middle class generation... i don't have much contacts in upper class and i m sure they will still be bz in their entertainment activities..

In our family gettogether there is no one who supports MUSH... not even 1 person... in our family there is supporter of every party from PPP to MMA... so its not that we have alliance to any particular party but its really this much low for the govt that its hard to find a support of Mush among common people and population...

every Pharaoh has his demise, i just wish that this country which has the blood of lot of honest, great and devoted people continue to survive and thrive after the demise of MUSH... cuz it look like mush seems to think that he is the all knowledge and all powerful in this country which has time and again proven wrong...

You have surely lost your own credibility by saying that people are being paid in these rallies.... it just like you have tried to spit on the sky...

Re: Pakistan’s Economy under Musharraf

Just wanted to prove my point to the rocky…
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070622/ap_on_re_as/pakistan_musharraf_on_the_ropes

Of 15 citizens interviewed at random by the AP in the cities of Karachi, Multan and Lahore, only one — a soldier — backed Musharraf. The rest were either apathetic or hostile.

Re: Pakistan's Economy in the Musharraf

u serious? the rally in islamabad was held right next to a relative's house, they were mingling around and plainly said they had been paid to be there.

If you watched the speech, when Mush was talking people weren't even listening, they were just walking around
