Based on this recent performance, can it be said that we’ve finally found pack of dynamically explosive talent that had been lacking for good part of this decade ?? Batting lineup has been struggling for quite some time now. And we still haven’t been able to establish a solid batting order starting from the top down to middle order. The most annoying aspect of it all has been the irresponsible & childish behavior that most of these players have been displaying. They can throw away their wickets like a house of cards and seems like have persistently refused to learn from their mistakes. In ODI format, looking at the current lot - this team can’t be called a young/inexperienced team since we have:
Younis Khan
Kamran Akmal
Mohammad Hafeez
Yasir Arafat
Shoiab Malik
Imran Nazir
Yasir Hameed
Shahid Afridi
Salman Butt
And yet many of them have failed to establish themselves so far. Woolmer & his laptop completely failed to address this fundamental flaw. But what is more frustrating is that these players are or should be aware of their deficiencies but up until now, almost none of them seem to be working on improving their performance. 20/20 is a format that most Pakistani players grow up playing in the alleys & road, nite tournaments, Ramazan tournaments and what not, it just comes natural to us. In this T20 final, a mere 157 was not a total that would have caused Pak team to be short of breath and yet they recklessly threw their wickets.
I hope Lawson really takes this up with these “young” players, kick their collective butt and get them to work their batting skills. Your input please.
