Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

Why can’t our own agencies do action against these people. If our agencies don’t clean the mess they have created, somebody else will.. and there will be no justification to cry later..!!!

MIRANSHAH: US missiles on Thursday killed al Qaeda’s chief in Pakistan, one of the Americans’ main targets and wanted for attacks that killed scores of people, officials said.
Badr Mansoor, who reputedly sent fighters to Afghanistan and ran a training camp in North Waziristan, was killed in a pre-dawn drone strike on a compound near the Afghan border, Pakistani officials and a member of his group told AFP.
A US drone attack had targeted a militant compound killed four insurgents in North Waziristan, early morning on Thursday, security officials had said.
Two missiles hit the compound located in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, near the Afghan border, a security official had said.
“A US drone fired two missiles at a compound used by militants in Miranshah and four militants have been killed.”
The incident and death toll were confirmed by intelligence sources.
“Taliban fighters had started hiding here in rented buildings and those killed are believed to be militants,” one official said, requesting anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media.
Officials said the death toll could rise because of damage to buildings next to the one targeted by the drone.
This strike followed a drone attack, earlier, on Wednesday on a compound in Tappi, 10 kilometres (six miles) southeast of Miranshah, which security officials said killed 10 insurgents.
Several militant groups, including the Afghan Taliban and al Qaeda, have a presence in Pakistan’s border tribal regions, taking advantage of a porous border with Afghanistan to conduct cross-border attacks, or plot violence elsewhere.
North Waziristan is also an important base for the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network, an Afghan militant faction allied with the Taliban.
While the Haqqanis say they no longer need havens in North Waziristan and stay in Afghanistan, they are known to still maintain a presence in the Pakistani border region.

Re: Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

A quick question. Since when is Al Qaeda our mess. Typical Pakistani behaviour taking credit for other people's work. Also this is going on with Pakistani ISI spotters who help feed information to the CIA. You should really read what Ali posts - esp some of his articles - they can be very informative.

Re: Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

^^^

1) it is our mess because they are using our territory to execute militant/violent activities in other countries. This is threatening the security of our innocent citizens..and has destroyed our perception globally and is the biggest hindrance towards any economic advancement..

2) If our agencies are so efficient to spot them.. they should also be efficient to take action against them. After all they claim a major portion of the tax being paid by us to ensure our security.

3) When politicians send some message to Americans it's treachery. When these agencies ask the Americans to use drones after spotting the terrorist (as implied by you).. it's perfectly patriotic. Don't you think there is a serious flaw in your stand when you defend these agencies connected to our armed forces..

Re: Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

  1. Our image has been bad since the 1980s. Its gonna get much much worse before it gets better. The Taliban are our mess I completely agree with that. Al Qaeda nope.

  2. Taking action is not feasible simply because the Pakistani army is not as good as it makes itself out to be. Its pretty damn pathetic actually. I am in favour of Drone strikes as long as the Pakistani government calls the shots. And all evidence shows we openly support the drone strikes and allow them permission to do so.

  3. Politicians sending messages to support drone strikes is fine with me when they have the support of the government. Not otherwise.

Re: Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

1) Don't agree with you there. There were more than 100 major buying houses till late 90s to buy our textile products in Lahore alone.. today there are none.

2) Drones kill majority of innocent people.. this is a documented fact. This new line being towed by our military establishment after Osama's presence in a garrison back yard that they are simply pathetic.. is really disgusting..!!! Now they want the whole world to believe that they are incompetent/pathetic is just an attempt to fool the people to conceal the dirt they have accumulated over the years playing these double games.

3) I am not talking about opposition politicians. I am talking about the alleged memo which was addressed to Americans by no less than our President and our army chief/DG ISI testified in the Supreme Court as authentic and equated the memo as an act of treason against the country.

Re: Pakistan’s Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

And we believe that he was alqaedah chief just because they say so?

Most of killings in these drone attacks are civilians , we have to justify these attacks hence every other person killed is basically a top brass commander of Al qaedah. *Wah g Wah
*
A little search revealed that Alqaedah chief in pakistan is Some one Moulana Umer Farooq.

Re: Pakistan's Al Qaeda chief killed in drone attack

Drones, it doesnt matter who they are killing with those. As out of these 280 odd drone attacks only a handful of high value targets have been identified. What about the rest of the people?

Maybe Americans think they are getting safer, as Alqaeda is not about personalities (alone). Its a philosophy, and with killing few of these people they generate some other and in the meanwhile its increasing also the anti American/Pakistan Army sentiment.

^ u r right they call al qaeda a state of mind...............
