Pakistanmail.com Your Are Always In Queue

6 August 2003

My real name is Javed. I am Pakistani national a true Pakistani. After getting familiarised with internet I was introduced for the first time for email purposes with yahoo.com. But soon about 4 years or so back someone told me that Pakistan had also introduced its own email named pakistanmail.com. I do remember listening this I immediately ran to an internet café to get my registration with this site which belongs to my beloved Pakistan. When I clicked the site it gave me some inner proud pleasure reading “Official web site Pakistanmail.com”. I applied registration with my real name “javed” but somebody already had taken it. I registered it as “mj” which is abbreviation of my full name. My wife and my child too opened accounts with their real names. Opening of email with this site always gave pleasure seeing the name Pakistan. I advised hundreds of families to open their family accounts with Pakisanmail.com as it was from our Pakistan and was quite safe for families and children. We never used nick names or false identities except that if original name was not available then some abbreviated form was used even then by giving correct particulars.

Later however junk mail, in fact very dirty mail, started coming but not in each account but to some. Spam mail I know is a universal problem but some sites do their best to minimize it as much as possible. Matter was brought to the notice of administration but it took no interest – no interest means it did not think fit even to acknowledge let alone do anything. However keep in view that the site was not of any multinational and there must be shortage of funds I kept on my association. I and my wife also became members of Discussion Forum with our real names and posted occasionally new posts.

After a year or so problems started coming. All of a sudden without any reason account would become inaccessible saying your name and password is wrong. As a safeguard additional accounts were opened by me with user names (i) mj2 and (ii) mj2a. But these were full of problems namely all of a sudden it will refuse deleting the un-required mail on the ground you did not select whereas naked eyes could tell proper selection for deleting was made.

User name “mj” a year back became non accessible. Matter was repeatedly reported only to get any acknowledgment saying your message has been queued and someone will soon revert to you. It is today approximately one year no one has reverted and my account is closed. Each time the matter was reported same auto generated message you are in queue soon someone will revert to you was received but practically with no action.

On Discussion Forum the system will duly log us in, will show properly having been logged in but when we will post any new topic or give reply to any existing post it will tell us “you are not logged in, you have no permission to post”. Why we do not have permission, why earlier granted permission stands withdrawn, no body would ever tell despite repeated requests except that your message has been queued. Discussion Forum will duly log us in, will thank us for logging and when we will try to change our profile to change non accessible email “mj” the system will tell you are not allowed to access this. Why we are not allowed to change our own profile? No body would help us to know this.

About two months back my wife’s email account faced the same closing problem saying “user name and pass word is wrong”. The administration was requested that since our pakistanmail.com emails have been given as alternative emails for our home page, discussion forums with other sites, relatives, our stock exchange share companies etc hence before 31st July our accounts be made operative so that any link mails having come may be retrieved. But nothing except that we have been again queued.

Pak.Org, experience has shown is the most lethargic site which has no interest in attending to problems of its own members. Foreign sites do attend and help.

Recently it came to knowledge that according to Pakistan Ministry of Information the site was not an OFFICIAL SITE and that it had nothing to do with the Government of Pakistan. It is a private site wrongly giving an impression as if it was official. Some member stated this in his posting but site administration immediately removed it.

What types of problems the system has one example. A week back my child opened his email account. There were more than 200 mails almost all spam. He started deleting these. Three fourth have been deleted when he had to log off for some work. After 10 minutes when inbox was opened against all those 200 were still there.

Subscribing pakistanmail.com on cost would be unwise for me. The fee prescribed plus bank charges, if email is to be subscribed instead of always coming in “queue” it is more wise for me to subscribe paknet mail which is a subsidy of Pakistan telecommunication after all if its administrator or webmaster does not revert back a complaint can be made to make things start moving. But in case of Pak.Org?

Out association with pakistanmai.com has now ended. Practically pakistanmail.com was of no use for us since 2 years nevertheless it served us. It had our beloved Pakistan’s name. It will cause us a loss as our pakistanmail.com emails are recorded elsewhere and on our request for change of emails some sites first will send confirmation mails back to our pakistanmail.com which we are not and will not be able to access to. While good memories of pakistanmail.com will always remain in our minds but at the same time it will also pinch us that at the end we before 31st July we could not know what mails were lying in our defective non accessible inboxes.

I know this posting of mine will be deleted very soon and if it was done then I will post it on other discussion forums of which I am a member because this are my sincere honest without any biase feelings about a thing of which I had been a member hence my right to express.

However I will fail my formal duty if I did not pay my thanks and gratitudes to site for letting us associated for 4 years and my honest prayers are for the success of the site in its new design/face up though I will not be a member to see that development.

PS: You may perhaps ask if I am not allowed to post new topics then how this post, the reply is I have registered with new name and only once I am sure this will take my post. After having posted my new topic I have made this PS as “Edit” and tomorrow I will try to make a new Edit and there is nothing one can treat I logged in but system is refusing me on same grounds

OK .. Let me see what this fella has to say:

Check with your child. We have records that show his subscriptions to these 'dirty' sites ... NO ONE gets 200 spams in their first week ...

This is not the first time you have said this. You have about two dozen FREE accounts and dont want to pay for one?

Tell them you dont want to pay for anything. Do you get your food, clothing, housing, education FREE of charge as well? hmmm ... No wonder you are complaining ...

Wowzers I have rarely seen Azkar this upset. But I can understand why.

Javed sahab from the very onset when you started writing complaint letters about your local electricity woes and corruption at the post office, you were told to contact govt and that this site is not affiliated with the govt of Pakistan. Something that has never been hidden. It should have come to your knowledge when it was communicated to you.

word of advise, you may want to question your son. as noted by Azkar the records of his registrations and following links from the emails from the nangi sites are in our possession so maybe instead of getting on the email provider's case for not stopping spam, which can only be stopped to a certain level anyways, and definitely impossible to stop in the cases where people are gettying emails since they have registered for those sites, you may want to have two words with your honehaar farzand :)

Pakistanmail has had its service issues, which I am very well aware of but my entire family has used the service and no one has faced the types of problems you seem to have experienced. eitherway pakistanmail will try to keep improving its service, and to move to a fee based email service is a part of that. since you were having problems with email as well as the discussion forum, may I suggest you check your browser settings since that has been the most common problem and has been addressed many times. or maybe your session times out by the time you are done typing the post.

Had it been financially and operationally feasible to keep providing free email services, it would have continued as it had been for years. However it was not feasible and thus discontinued just like companies like namezero discontinud the free url, email and webpage service.

Notice about the free service being continued was served giving people sufficient time to move their services or convert to a paid account. If you are unwilling or unable to have a paid email service, we regret that we can not offer a free service anymore and realize that there are other free email providers who may be able to accomodate your needs.

Thank You
