yep no one's fault in assuming. Especially if Members of the FBI's and New York Police Department's Joint Terrorism Task Force conducted four raids in Brooklyn and Queens.

or when Paul Bremer, a member of President Bush's Homeland Security Advisory Council says "The FBI is after these guys because they know something or they are trying to scare them,"

or pics of these folks on CNn. FOX, and all major news networks with the caption "war on terrorism" right next to it, as was teh case on the FBI website.

I agree, I dont see why people would assume that these guys are terrorists or were being pointed as terrorists.

bad assumers, bad..

So sue the system everytime the system doesn't work 100% correct is the answer, quite a system you would be left with. The FBI wanted these guys for questioning that the only fact they stated, I don't still don't see the crime in that.

oh no crime, just incompetence and bad sources. You dont have to only sue someone if there was an intent there, but if you get impacted negatively due to someone's incompetence, you can sue as well.

Sue the person who gave the faulty info, the FBI (and Police) need to be allowed to follow up on tips (right or wrong) without the fear of getting a lawsuite thown up on them. Imagine if the Police (or FBI) could only question those they knew were involved in a crime, it would be Thunder Dome.

Sure, law enforcement should pursue whatever leads they have, but they should have enough information to make such a claim, their sources are their problem also, they need to sort out their sources and make sure they are not getting bogus information.

The point is less about a lawsuit but more in response to your statement that people 'assumed' it was terrorism related. There was no assumption involved, news media fed it to viewers as if it was terrorism related, terrorism task forces looked for these guys in NYC, homeland security advisor to the president talked about them the same way.

There is no assumption on public's part in this case. I think you are incorrect on that point.

as far as a lawsuit goes, thats not going to happen or get anywhere.
