****PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Home and Tribal affairs department has taken notice of information regarding a large number of young people from Chitral district joining the Afghan National Army.
According to a reliable source of the provincial government, Chitral residents are serving in the Afghan army.
Keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue, the Home department has asked the commissioner Malakand division and other concerned quarters for detailed information about the incident.
Data regarding the number of Pakistanis involved, their names, postal addresses and their regions as well as their employment status in Afghanistan will help us take appropriate action in accordance with the law, the home department stated in a press release.
Is this a crime? A number of people born in Pakistan are working in army in NATO allies countries, do you think they are less patriot than army of Pakistan or even worst enemies of Pakistan?

They are naturalized citizens, or permanent residents, and hence, have allegiance to the country they live in. In this case, I dont think Pakistanis are going across the border to get afgani citizenship. It seems to be that the Afghan army is having a hard time finding folks, so they are luring people from the northern areas with money.
lol…if people can have dual citizenship and still be loyal to their host country, why NOT allow them to join another country’s army but make sure they commit their loyalty towards their host country! fair N square!!! :cb:
The article does not mention Pakistan born Afghan's, it seems Pakistanis from border areas as ANA provides better job opportunities. If it were Afghan I dont think the government would be that much worried about it
Pakistanis are working in saudi army, security forces and etc. I dont see any problem just because they joined afghan forces, they should be investigated.
A close friend of mine just recently retired at the Rank of Captain from German Army ..... he was born in Pakistan ..... he never held dual citizenship though

There have been recent incursions into Pakistan from Afghanistan ( including chitral) and I have even read news articles that the Americans have reached their limits with Pakistan and in case of any big scale attack on their forces in Afghanistan they along with afghan army might launch operations on Pakistani border areas.
Good grief. That is not even possible. Since when do Chitralis speak farsi. I swear sometimes the Express Tribune reads like a tabloid.
You need to speak dari, prove your nationality - ie Afghan, and you have to have clearance from NDS. NDS would never allow Pakistanis to join since it is full of NA commanders. Like always from ET I call this bull****.

It is good for people that they are getting employment. At least they and their families will not die in hunger or illness. There should be no objection if they get employment in Afghanistan Army.
well, these people from chitral and other parts of KP might be unemployed and hence they join the afghan army. People need to feed their families and they might some time take such drastic measures. Also, the average salary is higher in afghanistan than pakistan and alot of people from Mardan, Charsada, FATA and other parts of KP are working in afghanistan and are earning good money. One afghani currency equals two pakistani rupees, so people have the incentive to go and work there. Lets not forget that pashtun used to go to karachi for employment but due to discrimination and target killings they might opt to choose afghanistan instead of karachi, which is sad but this is how it is. Pashtuns in pakistan will benefit alot from stability in afghanistan as it will open doors to pashtuns and to a certain extent the punjabi establishment is afraid of this, as once stability returns to afghanistan and all minrals are being extracted afghanistan will need extra labour and this will have to come from pashtuns in pakistan and instead of pashtuns going abroad to middle east or other parts of pakistan they will go to afghanistan and perform various jobs.
Mardan your average ANP officer earns 100 dollars a month. Your average ANA soldier earns 165 dollars a month. While your average Pakistani soldier earns roughly 210 dollars a month.
CM: you have done your research and so quick, I think you belong to ISI. My friend listen carefully pashtuns today or tommorow will have be faced to join their brothers in afghanistan and do you know why? because of your ISI type of policy. ISI and pakistani army is playing with our bloods by collecting money from USA, and what do they do with that, let me tell you they buy weapons. Instead they should spend that money on infrastructure and build road etc. Have you seen the road from KP to Afghanistan, it is one of the worst. Pakistani army together with USA kill innocent pashtuns and the money is being distributed among ISI and its cronies. Do you think that is acceptable to a pashtuns. Put this in your mind Afghanistan is a country, and I am sorry to say this forget your strategic depth and recently afghans have also learned the game of strategic depth, look what the pakistani policy towards afghanistan has turned pakistan into. Nobody in the world trust pakistan and it is one of the most dangerous places in the world. On a micro level, on a daily basis compare the killing in karachi with that of kabul or any other afghan city, more innocent ppl are killed in karachi than entire afghanistan. ISI, pakistani army and the establishment call karzai the mayor of kabul, but can your president travel to KP and balochistan. Is there any peace from Chitral to Gawador, I dont think so. All I am saying is that punjabi's should realise that afghanistan is a country and not its 5th province.
