tysons corner mall and tysons galleria combined are by far the largest mall in the northern va area...possibly even all of the maryland and dc area. Tysons galleria carry high end things. the have great restaurants there as well. wonderful place to shop, eat, and watch a movie. It is also the center of many major businesses/companies and firms. A busy area all around....24/7
they have plans to reconstruct the entire area....their plan is amazing. It'll include a courtyard with an ice skating rink which will be surrounded with cafes. i am sure if you go to their website you can see their future plans for that area.

are you planning to move or just visiting the area?? I would suggest downtwon silver spring or Bethesda/Rockville (Maryland). Both are fairly close to DC - like 15-30 minutes...also look for place that has convenient accessibility to public transprotation - like a subway (or as it's called here - the Metro) ... for going in and around DC - metro is the best ...since parking is hell down there!!! Plus with gas prices dancing around 4 bucks you want public transportation close by...
