I read on BBC’s website that Gulam Ali was banned from performing in India. I say good. At least Indians have some shame unlike us. If you are money hungry or can’t find work in Pakistan go somewhere else. What go to India. Don’t these morons not realize that India is our enemy number one & that it has done everything to undermine Pakistan on every level since its inception? And what is wrong with Pakistani media? The Dawn group is so pro India that their website should be renamed Dawn India. I see at least 7 stories on their front page right now about India. WTH is wrong with us?

I make it very clear that he is not at all banned. I think the intention behind spreading this rumour is very much similar to that of the extremist shivsena. After the shameful development, Delhi government invited the artist to perform at capital of India so needless to say that “ban” is a false information ie a rumour. I make it very clear that he is not at all banned. I think the intention behind spreading this rumour is very much similar to that of the extremist shivsena. I don't care if he was banned or not. I'm glad he got slapped and hope many more of them get slapped like that. These shameless schmucks should not be going to India on 1st place. In fact, Pak govt should require that any citizen going to India for work must 1st obtain NOC before going and working in an enemy country.

Do not mix politics with arts and sciences. It's this hateful attitude that hinders progress. We bring religion and politics in everything. Unless our artists are being asked to do something anti-Pakistan or anti-Islam, I don't see why they should be called derogatory names.

Let me tell you that the well acclaimed personalities of music like Ghulam Ali are not money hungry. They have fans in every corner of the world. I feel very disappointed that you used derogatory words for such a great artist. It is no wonder that people of extreme ideology can go to any extent from spreading rumours to abusing. They are not patriotic in any sense but hurdles for growth of a nation. Instead of doing some good for people and country they invest energy in talking rubbish. It is often seen that these people like shivsena and those who spread hatred, rumours are only interested in talking about war, violence, controversies, who said what (like.. arrey.. usne aisa kaha.., abhi uski band bajata hun) politics, hatred etc they have little or no views on issues like how to enhance GDP, improving education, health, how to combat with diseases like polio, TB, malaria etc ; advancement in technology, communication, science, reduction in poverty, good governance, transparency, social policies, participative democracy, food security, art and culture etc. Even if they talk about any of these issues, the best they do is to blame political parties and leaders. They do not discuss the issues say corruption in constructive way. In talking about corruption they won't say anything about whistle blower protection, how to ensure transparency, empowering citizen with strengthening right to information and efficient working of citizen charter (citizen charter is to ensure delivery of service by authority), ease of doing business, single window for approval of projects and grievances,educating people against corruption, how to empower audit agencies. Instead they will criticize political masters badly. They will say all these problems are because of this and that person and some other person is a* farishta*, he will sort out all problems within no time. Their favorite pastime is to instill baseless fear among people, spreading hatred and roumers. I believe as long as humanity exists and people with ability to think analytically and rationally are here, they won't succeed in their intention.

Every artist desires to be admired and appreciated for his art. The actors and singers head to India because they are much appreciated and admired there. The culture and language bonds remain despite the political animosity of the two countries. The political minded, the religious minded and extremists on both sides of the border hate it but the music, movies and arts have continued to be appreciated by the masses on both sides regardless.

Well, first of all he isnt banned. His show was cancelled due to we know why.
Second this news has many dimensions. And we need to understand this very well.
There are three categories of stakeholders here: Fanatics, Artists and normal pppl or u can call audience who wana enjoy, hv fun and go home. Lets discuss first two.
Fanatics are everywhere whether east or west. We all know their role in Pakistan, Afghanistan , Burma, bangladesh etc. But India is no way far from any other country. Rather it has more extremism than other countries, its just that they dont dare to blow themselves so dont catch international attention but the mob-violence is rampant. Recent example is the killing of poor 50 yr old for eating beef. Now should muslims leave india or stop eating beef due to that, hell no!
Now second effected category is Artists: As the name implies they just luv "art" whether thru music, painting, dancing, writing or wutever. Almost all of the artists are extremely peace loving. They are very nice and beautiful people on whichever side they are.
Remember it was Lata , an indian national, who said about mehndi hasan that "mehndi hasan ke galay men bhagwan bolta hai.."
So lets not blame them for accepting an invitation that came from overseas. Just because some crazy fanatics forced them cancel their plan doesnt mean we start lashing these people.
Remember, if on one side their fanatics can force an artist from cross-border to cancel his tour by expressing their hatred towards him, we shouldnt respond to this by criticizing the artists for trying to do wut they are best at!
Imagine wut had happened if this concert had gone successfully? There would be more peace , more harmony. Its still better than we grilling them to attempt something we dont even think about.
Enough of hatred folks.. let some sanity prevail.
