Or in the west these symptoms are over-diagnosed. While I agree that it goes undiagnosed in desis, but the west is on the other extreme. High school kids popping anti-anxiety pills because of exams?

That said, this study is statistical. It measures overall happiness of a people. The kind of people you talk about are already accounted for ( hopefully ).

Which only goes to show money doesn’t buy happiness. Also, when we normalize abusive behavior, it makes the victims of abuse not want to complain because all they hear is, “shukar karo itna bhi hai”

The data suggests that. One would expect to find and the analysis suggest that as per capita income of a country increases, general satisfaction with life increases with it.

Pakistan seems to be an outlier, along with some South American countries. A few ex-soviet states are unhappier than they should be.

that is true. i have seen it myself. people are much happier and enjoying life in every way.

but this is their nature . this does not have to do something with their earning and some people dont even bother to earn. they believe in the sharing theory

or maybe they are more inclined towards religion

Pakistan also ranks highly amongst the more charitable nations, despite itself being a developing country. Speaks volumes about us as a people IMO. Same goes for this survey, despite not having much, we are thankful for what we do. If one forces themselves to be in a state of greatfullness instead of despair of the things we don’t have then that would automatically make a person happier.

Pakistanis have no concept of depression, mental illness, and mood disorders. God forbid, you are unhappy! They will not understand. They will think something is wrong with you and since they don’t believe depression and other disorders exist, you must be making it up or just plain crazy.
