Like i just said in the Café about this topic…they all seem to have more than one mobile phone… i never understood this… some ulterior lifestyle/something hidden etc??
Also, a couple of years ago in the UK, a cousin of mine told me that an asian girl in her area sent her boyfriend a ‘salacious’ video of herself… needless to say that somehow the video got sent to other places somehow (the boy himself did it, his friends… who knows…)… it even found its way on youtube… and consequently her life was made a living hell… and she’s disappeared off the face of this earth.. she moved away i think cos her parents wanted to kill her, and not in the figurative sense… she shouldn’t have been stupid enough to do something like this in the first place in my opinion… so i agree that mobile technology… heck all technology, is having a major negative on the youth of today…
Of the biggest signs of corrosion that i've seen is harrassment. Like someone said up there, you send someone a video (which btw should not have been made in the first place) it then goes from person to person until someone realizes why not youtube it. Because internet craze in Pakistan is just as widespread as mobile technology. Combine the two and you got a venue for all the filth (for those that misuse it), which otherwise would not have been tolerated in the society before.
The same goes with exchange of phone numbers. Someone gets hold of a girl's phone number, then the phone number gets passed around from person to person. And often times it's hard to trace the call unless you want the matter investigated, and so on.
Now youth are able to get away with so much because much is invisible to their elders, in the form of technological gadgets.
Yes these advacements are great, and they should certainly be utilized but we should be aware of the ethics as well. With power and prestige comes responsibility.
