Ms Shaiza Said Khan (President) and Ms Mahreen Haleem (Secretary)led the 17 member Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team to play three matches to qualify for the World Cup: two in New Zealand and one in Melbourne. Ms Khan and Ms Haleem established the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Control Association (the official name for the cricket team) on 21 January 1996 so that women could play cricket at international matches. Prior to this they together founded the Karachi Ladies’ Cricket Club in 1988. the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Control Association is a self-funded organisation of women who are enthusiastic about cricket and want to make a place for Pakistan in the world sporting arena.
