LAHORE: US space agency NASA has selected a Pakistani woman for a mission starting in January 2008, Geo TV reported on Wednesday. The woman, Numara Aslam, is from Lahore and is currently living in France. If the mission goes ahead, she would be the first Pakistani to fly into space. An artist by profession, Aslam has been selected as part of a six-member team made up not of astronauts, but people from other professions. daily times monitor
Re: NASA selects a Pakistani woman for space mission
What would an artist do in space? It would be a waste of time and money. I really doubt this story.
We have enough well educated pakistani youngsters who could contribute alot to the world by going up there. Why would they send a painter or singer upthere?

Does it matter who she is related to? The lady is going up the space before any of us Pakistanis. heck, I'm damn proud of her whether she earned it or got a hook up.
‘Space travel my childhood dream’ Daily Times Monitor
LAHORE: Namira Saleem, who is due to become the first Pakistani to travel into space in 2008, said it was her childhood dream to become an astronaut.
Talking to Geo television on Thursday, Namira said she had a strong belief in her dreams, and most of them had come true. She said the two-hour long space journey would take place in 2008. “This is called a sub-orbital flight in which we will break the boundary between earth and space and stay there for 15 minutes,” she said, adding that the selected people would receive commercial astronaut wings from the US Federal Aviation Authority.
She said her strong resolve led her to become the first person from this region to enrol for a private space flight. “Today I look forward to realise my vision with Virgin Galactic which is the only company in the world with a safe and tested prototype of a private spacecraft,” she said.
