In terms of lakhs, how much is 1 Lakh to a dollar? How much , in dollars, are the designer dresses costing? Any alternatives to a designer dress? I’ve been to some of these boutiques, and some of them will utilize poorer choice of cloth to cut corners, and so from a distance, the outfit may look great, but up close it’s crap.
One of my cousins got married, and they bought an outfit from hilaal silk palace, and they said based on cost and quality, hilal silk offered some of the best deals in Karachi. Any other recommendations for outfits? Maybe something already designed but unstitched, and needs to be put together by a tailor?

According to xe.com 1 USD ~ 100 PKR. That means if an average designer dress is 5 lakh, it's about 5000 USD, which is what you'd get at a high end bridal boutique in US too. Of course you can always get something for cheaper and something for a lot more than 5K, and you can always get something cheaper and something a lot more for 500K in Pak. You could always design something and ask a reputable karigar to put it together for you, and that will definitely cut the cost down for you. If you go to non-major cities in Pakistan and buy an unstitched suit again that will end up costing you a lot less than a designer bridal, but there you might be sacrificing choice because you get what you see.

5K is a lot for a dress...

^ Gulf has lots- it's basically an area where karigars sit. Kehkashan is another market.
5K is ridiculous for one dress that might be worn a handful of times at most, IMHO. You can definitely get a dress for less. 1.5-2 lakhs is a decent budget and places like Jabeens on Tariq road will be able to show you lovely bridals in that range. They're actually very good for Unstitched wedding and formal clothes.
hilal silk is very reputable as are the shops on Zamzama in defence. I did a detailed review on Karachi bridal shopping a couple years ago. If you do a search, it'll come up.
in terms of designers, my SIL wore a gorgeous nomi ansari bridal that was 2.5 lakh. Her valima dress was from
Jabeens and it was 1.5 lakh. Both were appropriately heavy but tasteful. So much also comes down to personal preference in terms of style, cut, quantity of kaam etc.
