Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: The Indian Air Force scrambled two Mig-21s on Friday morning after a “flying object from Pakistan” came close to the Pakistan-India border near southern Punjab, the Indian Express reports.

The aircraft did not cross the border, but violated a 10 km no-fly zone observed by both countries, according to the report, which was confirmed by the Indian Air Force.

The Mig-21s were scrambled from Suratgarh base after the “flying object” was detected on radar at 10am. The Indian Air Force is likely to approach the Ministry of External Affairs to take up the matter with Pakistan, according to the report. An inquiry is now underway.

Indian officials suspect the craft could have been an unmanned aerial vehicle. The area in question is close to Bikaner in Rajasthan in India, opposite southern Punjab in Pakistan…
