Pakistani Trains

Re: Pakistani Trains

No I was not correcting you. I was trying to think loud. ok ok so the article said tezgaam ... but really the word is taiz , not tez .. tez has a shorter sound, dont you think.

and great article, thanks for sharing .. and now I learned about Musa Pak and Lala Musa express ...

man, even the names are so nostalgic although I heard about them for the first time, :(

Re: Pakistani Trains

Both my grandfathers (paternal and maternal) were in railway engineers for pakistan railways. They had maps and project files of routes that they worked on. (I wished I saved them). Grandchildren and children were given free board.

The longest trip I remember was from Lahore to Karachi. It took a day 1 and 1/2 and it was overnight train. My phophos had packed so much food but I don't know the station food and the train food tasted SOO good.

So many memories.

Re: Pakistani Trains

travelling by trains is also my most most fav mode.. provided i have ample amount of time, i travel by train..

i love looking at the track esp when train changes it.. all the pics that you have shared are so beautiful.. :bb:

Thanks for liking the pics

Here are two videos of our trains..

Took this video while going from Lahore to Multan on Musa Pak. It was on 25th December 2008. We had a stop at Chicha watni so I landed on platform and took a video of another train reaching the station.

This video shows a tunnel between Lahore to Rawalpindi route. I took this video last year when I was going to Rawalpindi from Lahore (Islamabad Express) on 15th June 2009. The weather was great on that day which made the journey awesome.

Re: Pakistani Trains

nice thread sufi bhai!!! some beautiful pictures : )

one of my longest trips in train was more than 36 hours, just from karachi to lahore!!!
when the train left Karachi Cantt, it was quite on time, i was traveling alone... in my compartment there was a guy wearing a tshirt which said "The Great Trip" an uncle, also in our compartment, said lets see whats so great about this trip : D and the greatness started to show right after 40 minutes when we crossed Jang Shahi, first a cargo train broke down, stopping for almost 1 hour, and then another cargo train on our way... they changed the normal route and went on to Sakhhar/ Dadu/ Larkana track. we reached lahore after more than 36 hours

and the funny thing was, i had my ticket booked on the same train back to karachi which was leaving just after 3-4 hours...

Re: Pakistani Trains

lolz.. this is very common in Pakistani trains but one should be prepared for this in Pakistan Railways ;)
