Pakistani Trainer Resignation

Excerpt from Cricinfo.com

Grant Compton, trainer for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and a key member of the staff that Bob Woolmer brought to Pakistan when he was appointed, has resigned from his post following differences with the PCB over his contract negotiations.

Compton’s contract expired on December 31 last year and he was in discussions with the board over an extension to his term. A board official told Cricinfo that Compton’s demands were unacceptable and thus any new contract was unlikely, therefore the chairman had accepted the resignation.

I like to hear any good news coming out of Pakistan Cricket. The controversy shadows still looms from 2006 and appear to get bigger and darker. I do not want to pay attention to the contract and the negotiation but raise two key questions…

Firstly, why does PCB sign a contract with particular member of the coaching staff until December 31 2006 when Cricket WC is three months away? The timetable of any Cricket WC is decided long time ago. The incident is similar to contract expiration of trainer of NFL (National Football League) team before playoffs.

Secondly, why is the contract duration difference between Bob Woolmer and Grant Compton? Grant Compton is the member of Bob Woolmer staff and comes to Pakistan with Bob Woolmer. Trainer is a key component of any coaching staff and his input is vital in coaching and selection decisions.

I do not about future. Nevertheless, if services of Grant Compton are lost (his resignation is not accepted until Saturday, February 17, 2007), it will be blow to Pakistani Team, struggling with several injuries to star fast bowlers.

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

whose fitness was Grant working on? Naseem Ashraf or Mushtaq Ahmed?

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

^^ :hehe: I think that was Saleem Altaf’s vocals before he went on Geo

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

These good for nothing physios hand-picked by over-rated Woolmer should have been given the boot long time ago.

It's worth mentioning here that Compton had passed pacers Shabbir Ahmed and Abdul Razzaq fit before the start of the ODI series that ended recently. However, Shabbir broke down after bowling a handful of overs in the Twenty-20 game

Compton was demanding a minimum increase of £500 in his monthly pay of £3500, besides demanding two business-class tickets (one for himself and another for his wife) every two months :) laalchi kaheen ka

I know there are other factors involved as well but the fitness level of our players has if anything gone down over the last two years or so.

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

Over the last year Paksitani team has been the most unfit unit I have ever come across, so it is good news that we got rid of such free loaders.

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

So who is next to go …? ppl who were irr-Responsible and left their $15000-20000 equipment in the hotel room recently and said equipment missing :halo:

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

What would we do without Pakistani Cricket.

Total Entertainment.

Kyaa Shoaib Akhtar, Woolmer ko court le jayeega ?....aglaa episode dekhnaa naa bhooliye...

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

during his time more players have become unfit then in history, im glad he is history now!

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

I think trainer focus was on Woolmer and Inzi fitness. He was the one who kept them go slim.

I heard, Nasim Asharaf was getting regular advise from the trainer for his marathan races, and trainer told him he can only get any further advice if he gets 500 pounds sterling more per month, and it ticked off Nasim Ashraf. Nasim is planing to hire a doctor as a trainer. He wants to bring as many doctors to PCB as he could.

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

The exit route for Bob Woolmers team has started and slowly all of them will go.

Re: Pakistani Trainer Resignation

start of the end of Woolmer's era i guess
