Re: Pakistani talk shows
I started to admire Kashif Abbasi, lately (from ARYworld, I think). He is really good.
The problem with most of them, including Hamid Mir, Faiza, Talat Hussain and even Kashif Abbasi is that they somehow, somewhere loose the control over their guests and it becomes free for all kind of thing for a while.
I was OK wiht PJmir but that idiot after his stetement against Pakistani Criekt team that they should spend less time in Namaaz and more in practice. made me loose repect for him
Shahid Massod is good, his initial monolgue (Meray mutabiq segment of his show) is sometime irritating, because of his long statements with too many commas and exclamation marks and what not.

Islam is not a hermit's religion.
Islam is a balance between Deen and Duniya.
Islam is a middle path. The Prophet PBUH himself told extremists off.
They should pray but they also have a responsibility towards their job and to the entire nation...
Huqooq-Allaah are important in Islaam but so are Huqooq Al-'Ibaad.

I just express my personal opinion about PJMir, it was not a verdict. but about your comments...
so Namaaz is huqooqul_Allah and cricket is Huqooqul-Ibaad???
Everytime we show lack of proffesionalsim in any aspect of our lives, Namaaz is to be blamed?
And if someone prays five times, that is extremism, so we should be moderate and pray 2 times, only?
Re: Pakistani talk shows
No the 5 prayers are compulsory.
I meant Nawaafil prayer and Dhikr... Those are important too and good if they're doing optional worship but they also have a responsibility towards their job, they're not getting paid for nothing, they need to set time aside for worship but it's also important that they train properly.

I agree with you here.
Do you think they were spending too much time in Nawaafil and Dhikr. Cause PJmir was the only person who said that out loud. Did someone else brought that concern up, also?
Re: Pakistani talk shows
I don’t know about our cricket team but I know a few TJ brothers, now I love them for the sake of Allaah and a lot of them are sincere and do balance Deen and Duniya…
But a few, well… They go away on 40 day tours neglecting their families needs, on one hand they preach purdah and on the other they leave their wives to do men’s work..
There’s others, who goverment se benefit pe benefit liyey ja rahey hain, roz kaheen na kaheen Tableegh ke saath ya kisi Gasht pe nikal jaatey hain, zindagi mein kabhi mehnat ki kamaai naheen ki..
Is this the Sunnah of our Nabi :saw:?
Our Nabi :saw: taught us to live by the sweat of the brow, he worked hard to earn his living, then he helped his wives with their housework..
Our Prophet :saw: was a man who followed the middle path, he balanced everything, yes he worshipped but he also fulfilled his other duties…
We follow a Prophet :saw: who taught us to make our whole life into a form of worship by living it proper… He was a practical and realistic Prophet, not like some of these false Teachers who sat under a Banyan tree or started rolling in dust, or starving to death in the hope of enlightenment…
One need not renounce the world and the pleasures and responbilities God has created for us to be spiritual..

Just like this thread!
Re: Pakistani talk shows
Anwar Maqsood, Naeem Bukhari, Moin Akhtar, Naveed Shazad and have all been good talk show hosts. the intellectual discussion on a social aspect of the Pakistani society be it media, religion or politics, and some debate or cross of views on a civic issue, an amenity's lack or mismanagement are all great topics which force people to re analyze their values, practices and habits , in an effort to re orient everthing in their social and personal lives.
of course, when it comes to making good use of media, some people working in the media industry would not have the best taste as well as a sense of purpose behind their productions.
at the audience's end, people are only as ethical as they do!
thanks everyone for all your posts at this thread.
it did spur a good discussion.
